I have tried many other remotes such as universal but still do not work
Have you checked all the remote controls for its infra-red emission? Are you using its original remote control or a universal one?
If you're using the original remote control, it should work without any problem; provided it emits infrared light from it to each press of a button on it. You can check it using a cell phone camera. The procedure is given one among the following sites liked here. If it is a universal remote control; you have to synchronize it with your device, using the set-up codes.
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site.
