Your Wii is set to be on 24 connect. When you turn it off it goes into a stand by mode that allows it to get data for the weather, news, and shop channel. As well as get emails in. Its fine like it is. But if you want it to turn off, you'll have to go into the options and disable the Wii 24 Connect.

You need to change the standby settings in the Wii settings so that instead of being permanently on standby, it turns off. I have a feeling when you change this setting it will make the orange light go away.

Wii has no power whatsoever going in

The button has to be pressed until you see the light come on try using the wimote power button on the upper left corner hold it until you see the light if its yellow its in standby if its green its on you should see the disk entry area turn blue a sec when it comes on. Then it should be green on the power light if no lights in just a couple or 3 seconds holding it down you may have 2 bad wii's in a row. If you take it back ask them if they have a test model on the floor and tell them to show you exactly how it works to power on and off.

I can't turn on the Wii. The red light is always on and when I press the power button (or even the eject button) the blue light is flashing (Only when I press those buttons). I tried the solution of...

Try pressing the power button down and holding it for a few seconds and see if your WII comes back to life. When I first got my Wii I would hold down the button just long enough for it to turn green. This seems like a standby mode. To get my Wii to turn off completly I needed to hold down
the button until it turned red and when restarting the WII I held doen the button until the Wii started back up.

The "on" light is always green, even if turned off. Why?

It occurs when your wii in the Standby, but WiiConnect24 is enabled with Standby Connection is enabled. the content can also be received when the Wii is left in standby mode.

WiiConnect24 can be turned on or off via the setup setting. While the console is in standby, the power LED indicates the current status of the standby connection,

  • Red indicating Standby - wiiConnect is off,
  • Yellow indicating Standby - Connect mode is on. If you hold the power button for 3-4 seconds, the Wii goes into standby mode with Standby Connect off. and WiiConnect24 will not operate until the console is turned on.

Wii work for 3 weeks will not turn on .

There is no light on the front, correct? No red, yellow or green?

Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii. This is a common problem with the Wii. It happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc. Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens.

Power will come back on, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

You need to reset the AC adapter to get the Wii to work again. There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up.

My wii is not working

If it's orange that means it is turned off. It turns green when you turn it on. Insert a disc, press the power button or hit eject.

Wii standby light

To be precise, you can turn this option off from the Wii System settings -> Wii Connect 24 -> standby connection -> off

When this setting is swiched to off, your console shuts down entirely and there is a RED light on the power button. There will be no need to turn off the console pressing the power button.

Power is on but screen is black

I found this [temporary] solution at http://www.wiierror.com/wii-black-screen.php:

(via email, thanks Steven) This happened to me once, but I fixed it. Here is how:
Eject the disk
Unplug the wii at the back
Wait 1 minute
Plug it back in
Turn it on from the remote
Press reset if it does not show up
Hold the power button to shut it off
Turn it on once more.
I don't know how, but it seemed to work for me. The problem happened when I was trying to load the Mii channel. Hope this helps !

(via email, thanks Andrew)
The first time I shut down my Wii, the light went orange (as it should). When I turned on the power with my wii remote the next day, the wii\'s light turned green but the screen was black.
The treatment was the same as from Black Screen, No Connection: Unplug the Wii\'s power supply unit, then replug; turn system on with wii remote.
The difference is: this problem can strike in more places than just by loading the Mii Channel. Also, I think the green light being on (yet there being a black screen) is a common symptom as well.
