I am getting a flashing message on the digital temp screen: ERR and then the temperature (40 degrees).

The fridge seems normally cool and the stuff in freezer is still frozen.

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.

SOURCE: Samsung twin cooling fridge/freezer model

My husband removed the covers inside the fridge which contain the lights and the cooling fan. The problem was the icing up of the cooling fan (which circulates the cold air) preventing it from rotating also the drain hole at the bottom of the fan was also iced up.
The fridge was switched off at the wall socket whilst working on it. After removing the panel containing the fan and unplugging the connection take the panel outside. A hair dryer was used to thaw out the ice. The drain hole was made slightly bigger to hopefully prevent this happening again.
When panel is screwed back in fridge make sure the black sealing tape is in position also take care not to damage cooling pipes which are attached to the evaporator unit. Defrosting a couple of times a year might prevent this happening again. It seems to be a design problem which im sure the makers will be aware of and modify future appliances. Q Will the makers repair this problem free of charge even if the warranty has expired !?

SOURCE: samsung rs2533sw fridge not cooling

it sounds like the refrigerator evap is frozen up causing the compartment to get too hot. shut the unit off and let it thaw out. then take the screws out of the cover to check the stryrofoam on the back side of the cover to see if theres broken spots on it causing the air to bypass the evap causing it to freeze. Theres two screws behind the light cover and two at the very bottom of the cover and two behind the decorative plugs about 1/2 way

I have Samsung fridge model RS267LBSH. The freezer works but why won't the frig side cool?

If the door temp is reading low then it will not cool as that is the temperature the fridge thinks it is at (regardless of the real temperature). Try setting the door temp lower and see if there is still a 14 degree difference between the 2 readings. If it does cool down further and the difference is the same then I would suspect the thermostat.

How do I get my fridge to cool in cold weather with buying grill covers?

That is correct, you have reached the thermostat set point. Does not matter C or F. Read the manual it will give you the limits:

The ideal refrigerator temperature is 35°F (1.6°C). You're not hugging the danger zone like you would be at 40°F (4.4°C), and you're distancing yourself sufficiently from 32°F (0°C) that you don't freeze half the stuff in your refrigerator.

Left door of F/P fridge part for a week. Now red light is flashing, beep stopped but fridge not cold enough.

Hello Jennifer;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

No. Your problem is not defrost.

The normal temperature setting for a freezer is -2 to +2 degrees F. or -18.8 to -16.7 degrees C. The fresh food section should be set at 35-40 Degrees F. or 1.6 to 4.4 degrees C.

Reset your temperature controls to the recommended settings.
Up plug your unit for 10 minute to power down. Plug your refrigerator in.

How do I set the temperature on a true refrigerator model GDM-26EM?

40 degree is a perfect temperature for produce if its lower that stuff will turn brown. Maybe you thermometer has failed. Go to the food store and get a red stick and put it in there. Then adjust with that temperature indication. Hope this helps and good luck.

Temp in refridgerator is 40 degrees on bottom shelf with temp gage turned to coldest setting. Is this right?

the normal temperature for a refrigerator is 35-40 degrees F, so 40 at full cold setting is not correct.

If this is a side-by-side or top-freezer, make sure that the air vents between freezer and fridge are not blocked by food items or ice.

Make sure defroster operation is working normally as ice will block airflow.

Also, there is a circulating fan in most models that moves cold air from freezer to fridge. make sure that's working.

The display unit keeps flashing on the fridge side on my samsung RS20CCVS.

When the temperature indicator flashes indicate then the temperature has ridge a level lower the the set temperature for example if you set you fridge side to 36 degree and and has fail to stop from getting cooler and has ridge 34 degree. some times those friges fail to calibrate them self tray by unplugging you dirge for 30 seconds and replug it then the board will auto calibrate for the next 24 hours If this problem comes back again that meas than your defrost element on the fridge side is bad.
