First and easiest solution is it may have been left on and the battery is dead, so plug it in and try that first.
If that doesn't work, press both your menu button and the center (select button) for about five seconds, hold them down until you see the apple logo appear on the screen. That is your reset option. It will go through a shut down/reset process. When finished, turn it back on and enjoy....Brian
Try this
1.Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.2.Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears3.Immediately switch your figures to press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until "Disk Mode" appears at the top. If this doesn't help try reseting it to factory settings from itunes(Warning!! resetting will erase everything from the ipod)
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!
Start the computer from the installation CD, choose Disk Utility from the menu, and then choose Repair Disk with the internal HD selected. If that doesn't work, you can try a new OS installation. If your data is important, don't erase the drive during installation and select "Archive and Install" -- if your data is *NOT* important, you can just repartition the drive and install the OS.
Did you try resetting it? (Turn the hold switch on, turn it off again, then hold down "Menu" and the center button at the same time for 6 seconds or so.)
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, and then turn it off again).
2 Press and hold the Center and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the
Apple logo appears. this resets the ipod
