Question about Kodak 5300 All-in-One InkJet Printer

Replaced printer's black and cartridge and get

Replaced printer's black cartridge and get some faint black printing. Went to the site that asks you to clean and did. The printer is only about 3 months old. Also, seems like using a lot of ink cartridges. I purchased it because my old laser printer broke and just too expensive to repair, also crazy expensive ink cartridges, although I got months and months of use. Any ideas?

Hi,

Most likely this could be because of Faulty Printhead/Cartridges in your printer.

If you have replaced Black and still find printing Quality issue, the Printheads need to be cleaned.

My suggestion is to click on the link below and the website is helpful in dealing with all type of Epson printer issues.

Black printing very faint or not at all, cleaning print head makes little difference Brand new Cartridge

Sometimes it will print faint black even if there is a new black cartridge, because the color cartridge needs to be replaced as well.

Make sure that the cartridges are genuine Kodak cartridges, as well, for maximum performance and reliability.

Cleaning heads can use up a lot of ink, by the way.

Color printing became faint and streaky so I replaced both the black and the color cartridges. That fixed the problem, but it recurred after only a few dozen pages. So I replaced the color cartridge...

You didn't include make and model of your printer so we can only guess. My guess is that you don't use the printer daily or for many documents and the printhead is clogged with dried ink.
I finally got tired of cleaning printheads so often and went with a color laser printer; it costs more to run but it at least prints when told.

Black ink on my Brother MFC-420CN is faint and streaky

You said you replaced the cartridges. Were they Genuine Brothers' Cartridges?

My Brother MFC-240C, does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also I had with Brother's was problem with Color. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, or Blue Green, etc. The Generic Cartridges, also printed lines thru the words. That's what the Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges.

Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY, or Take them to have them filled.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for the PRINTERS.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

The black ink print is very very faint

Indicates that the printer is using only color ink to create a black color. Check printer settings to see if you can set it to use only black cartridge. Also try printing with only the black cartridge inside if the printer permits, this way you can be sure if the black print head is faulty.

Faint print

Check the print driver settings, this may need to be changed.
Also clean the cartridge nozzle with damp paper towel - should work.
You can service the device in the driver properties.
