Steve your having problems with the main boad inside of the 360.

Courtesy of LLama, there is a fix for the 3 red lights if you have some patience and it requires some nuts, bolts and some time, here is the link to the page:

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm

Its a clamp fix and this does take care of the problem sometimes. Hopefully it will for you. But the site goes into detail on how to install the clamp fix.

Red lights appear on consule what do i do

gavphilipson

To clarify are you getting 4 red lights or 3 red lights

If it is 4 light then this is just a system error that you video is not connected right. If you have you AV and/or HDMI cable connected to the XBOX then most like you have a bad cable. If you have tried another cable then most likely then there is something wrong with the video connector on the system.

If it is 3 light then you have the "red ring of death" issue. This is a general hardware error. If you go through the red ring repair steps this would fix the issue.

Hope this helps

Xbox 360 three red lights

Hi. Here are some check points that may restore the normal functions of this unit. If the below check points do not produce results, Click Here to be directed to a step by step repair procedure that you can use to correct the fault.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Try restarting the console.
2. If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
* Turn the console off.
* Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
* Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
* Firmly reconnect all the cables.
* Turn on the console.
3. If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive, and then turn on the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.
4. Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red.

Wont play when i insert disks only the games on there

I had a similar problem. My PS3 did not start the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu.

I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine. Also downloaded games were working ok.

In case you have the similar problem, you should try the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After PS3 has executed the DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu and are starting automatically when inserted to PS3.

I keep getting three red rings in the part where it shows how may controllers are playing and i can't get any of my games to play or my controllers to work

Three lights flash red on the Ring of Light (RoL) on the front of your Xbox 360 console. The upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red. The three flashing red lights may indicate that there is a hardware problem with your Xbox 360 console.

You can try one or two things.

1. Turn on your xbox and check to see if the power supply light is green. If it is green there is a problem with the system. If it is red it means you should check your connections and restart the xbox.

2. These rings have a tendency of meaning that there is a problem with the system itself. Most companies sell extra insurance to cover this "ROL" Ring of life. You can contact Microsoft by calling them. The number is usually listed on the back of the video game booklets.

I wish you the best and I hope this resolved your problem

Borken xbox

3 red lights or the ring of death as commonly known is a software failure you will need to send it to microsoft to be repaired. Is a common fault with xbox 360 made before mid 2006. Unfortunately there are not to many things you can do but you can try wrapping a towel around it and turning it on leave it on for a few hours (2-3). Turn off and back on. First though you should take the hard drive off the top and turn on sometimes this works. If it does you can play games but you would need a removeable memory stick (goes in the front of xbox) to save games. Hope this helps
