Duo Therm RV Air Condiioner-Compressor comes on before fan motor

Sometimes the compressor comes on before the fan and then shuts system off and other times the air conditioner motor does not come on at all. This is sporagic. Have tried wd 40 on the motor shaft, both coils have been cleaned and blown out recently. Inside thermostat has been factory reset. What is the problem?

I'd have someone who's familiar with capacitors, (for safety sake), to test your fan run capacitor, and power to it. If capacitor is shot, fan won't start. Have to remove cover on upper unit, then cover on side at front where wiring is, to access it.

Sounds like thermostat is failing. There is a factory set resistor that helps the thermostat keep a 2 degree accuracy. Second possibility is that you have a fan or direct airflow from the cooling system, being devirted, that is allowing the cool air hit the thermostat on the wall.

Sounds like you hit it on the head--compressor should turn off when unit reaches the preset temperature.

Duo-Therm BRISKAIR on rooftop of houseboat runs, not putting out cold air. Also, fan doesn't seem to be running at top speed

Sometimes a weak capacitor will make a motor run slower so I would check that first. Also make sure the compressor is running. Let me know what you find. You may need to get the refrigerant charge checked too. By the way it may use the same capacitor for the fan and compressor.

Sounds like 1 of 3. Blower motor capacitor, relay or thermostat. Try to run fan only if that is an option and see.
