Re: Monitor Displays

As much as we want to help you!!! we also need a more detailed information of your problem! if you happen to have a friend with a computer then, ask for a favor to try your monitor on their computer! if your monitor works fine on their computer then your problem might be with your computer's VIDEO CARD.

There is no audio

If your Acer monitor has built-in audio, you may have to run a separate line from the audio output (usually green) of your computer to the audio input of your monitor (usually located on the bottom edge of the monitor)

My monitor suddenly altered the colors on the screen; white background now appears slightly pink, green appears black. How can I make adjustment to correct the color?

your monitor is either going bad or your display setting are messed up.use the buttons on the front and mess with color option if that don't work then you need a new monitor

Scrolling colored lines on the monitor, overlaying the screen.

You either have extremely screwy drivers, a bad cable or your monitor/panel is shot. Replace any of the above to resolve the issue.

ACER AL 1716

There are two types of lines.

Lines caused by a bad LCD screen and lines caused by poor sync.

A bad LCD will cause perfectly straight vertical and horizontal lines that don't move at all. This is because the row and column addressing ICs have gone bad, so you will end up with rows or columns of bad pixels.

Poor sync looks more like what you are describing. The picture will flip vertically and horizontally.

Poor or missing sync can be caused by a bad video cable, or a bad IC on the main board.

If the monitor has a removable video cable, borrow another one from a friend to test if the monitor is working. If it works, head to your local computer store and buy a new cable.
If the monitor still doesn't work with a different cable, you may have a bad main board. The only way to repair the monitor will be to replace the board.

If you open the monitor, be sure to check for bad capacitors. They can cause all sorts of strange faults. Look elsewhere on this site for how-tos on inspecting capacitors.

If your video cable is not removable, there's not much you can do. You will need a way to test that each pin on the cable connector on the main board conducts to a corresponding pin on the other end of the cable. You can do this if you have a multimeter, or a continuity tester.
