My singer 227 m was a gift i accidently took the bobbin out now dont know how to put back in also need the settings they need to be on please cuz the top thread is reallyy loose

If the upper thread tension is off, most likely it is threaded incorrectly or it is not seated in the tension disks. Remove the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct. Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low number to start and then tweak it from there.

A manual for your machine would be a tremendous help.

SINGER Installing Front Load Bobbin Tutorial

Be sure to keep your machine clean and oiled--ONLY fresh, good quality sewing machine oil or liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube from the hardware store. Open the top lid, the side over the needle bar and the bobbin area. Slowly rock the handwheel and apply ONLY 1-2 drops every place where metal rubs against metal. AVOID belts, plastic gears, cams. Be sure to move selector dials and levers and oil those metal mechanisms too. Doing this every 40 hours of sewing will keep your machine happy and healthy. Also, remember to change out the needles frequently--every 8 hours of use.

I cannot get the top needle thread to pick up the bobbin thread on a Singer 404. I have the manual online and can see that I have loaded everything properly, but the bobbin thread just sits there when I...

Hi Jennifer:

Do you understand how a stitch is formed on a sewing machine? The needle goes down to its full down position. At that point the shuttle hook should be pointing right at the needle scarf, ready to go past it as the needle starts to go up.

When the needle starts its upward travel it forms a loop... the shuttle hook enters the loop and the bobbin thread is "captured" in that loop.

If your machine's timing is advanced, the needle will hit the hook and break or make nasty thumping noises. If your timing is ********.... the hook misses the loop entirely and does nothing.

So... open up the entire bobbin/throat plate area.... take the foot off so you can see. Clean if necessary. Then turn the hand wheel by hand until you see that the needle is at the lowest point of travel. Where is the shuttle hook?

From there you'll have to use your logic to find the right screws and adjust the hook.

Here' is a Parts Chart for your machine.

Good luck!

I just purchased a singer cg-550/500 and after threading the machine and inserting the filled bobbin, I was unable to bring up the bobbin thread with the needle. I followed the instructions carefully but...

if im not mistaken, the bobbin when you place it in the bottom, you have to thread it is as well to the part where the needle comes down and collects and goes back up. please re-look at instructions for placement of bobbin

Sewing machine will not stitch. The thread goes into the material but does not make a stitch. I've changed the needle, cleaned the bobbin, rethread the bobbin and the top thread.??????????????

Is this the first time you have used the machine? If so you need to bring up the bobbin thread by hand before stitching. Only when both bobbin and top threads are up through the needle plate nad pulled towards the back of machine, will the machine form a stitch.

Bobbin case and threading singer 6423

This machine has a black plastic bobbin case. You drop the bobbin down into the case with the thread coming off in a clockwise direction. If you look close you will see a slot in the bobbin case where there is the metal pieces. The thread will slide into that and as you pull on it it will work its way through and come out on the other end of the metal. Lay the thread over top of the bobbin case and turn the handwheel to pick up the thread. (make sure you close the slide plate)

Problems with Singer 2732

"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.
