This depends on what you paid for the television and exactly what it cost to fix. Unfortunately, the only way to get the true cost of repair is to know exactly which part needs to be replaced. Because you heard two cracking sound, a tech would have to get in there to see if you need more than one circuit board. To give you an estimate without checking the inside of the set would be irresponsible.

I can tell you that the circuit boards for these new TVs are generally expensive. You'll normally pay a minimum of $200 parts and labor for any type of part replacement. However, repair costs of several hundred dollars have become all to common. With 42" LCDs selling for just over $600 brand new, it really brings into question how much you should pay to have a TV repaired. But if you bought that a few years ago, you probably paid over $2000 if it was brand new. So, it may be worth it to you to fix depending on what you feel is too much to pay. In the future when you buy a new TV, ALWAYS purhase an extended warranty. This will give you years of worry free viewing because all brands break down. The percentage of TVs that break down is small, but the number is large.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Television popped on the inside, leaving a crack on the inside of the screen. No picture but has sound

a plasma screen is a sealed unit, as soon as the screen is compromised the gas inside escapes and can no longer produce plasma, hence sound but no picture.

its like getting a crack in a fish tank all the contents will leak away.

think you going to need a new tv

Low sound on my Vizio 50" plasma

Most of HD channel broadcast in 5.1 channel sound. Regular channel broadcast in 2.0 channel sound. You TV only have 2 speakers so you will expect the sound will be low compare with the regular channel.

Hope this will help!

i have the same problem with the noise and the video quality is ****, my friend gave it to me to see if i could fix it, i took it apart and the sound is coming from either an orange thing or a capacitor, could it be an overload capacitor where the sound is a bunch of sparks flying through the dielectric?

No picture but has sound

With all the listed sets, itis most likely the y-drive(sus) board. The only problem is that this board usually fails when the horz.buffer ic's fail, which is usually part of the plasma display. This was a semi-common problem with this set.The best bet is to find a new set, since the parts alone will exceed the cost of a new one.Pioneer or nec seem to be the most reliable that i have seen.
