Only the 4 cyl engine models used a serviceable filter in 1998.
Last year for the V6 and V8 models was 1994.
Most vehicles built after 2003 do not use a fuel filter.
If it had a filter it would be in the fuel line under the truck.
The filter should have three hoses. There should be an arrow painted on the filter showing the direction of fuel flow.
And you should be able to blow in one end and the air come out the other if direction is correct.
The line to the pump should be on the end without the extra hose.
The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank. There is a fuel filter along the frame near the cab and box area. On top the back side of the engine is the fuel pressure sensor on injection rail assembly. There is a fuel pressure fitting to check pressure. I hope this helps.
