Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 7205 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Premature lamp replacement message

I am getting a "change lamp" message with only 375 lamp hours used. The message appears and dissappears intermittently.
The beamer is mounted to the ceiling and is always allowed to completely cool off. Picture quality is still excellent. I am not using the high power setting.

I have removed the lamp and cleaned the connection. But this has not solved the problem. I have reset the beamer back to the factory setting which also did not solve the problem.

Is there any advice you can give me?

I have a Sony VPL-CX61 Multimedia Projector. I just changed the lamp and I cannot get the "please replace lamp" message to go off.

When you use a projector it automatically keeps a timer of how long the lamp has been used for. The message that comes up on screen saying "please replace the lamp" comes up not because it's some how sensing that the lamp is getting old, but because the lamp hours gets to a certain number (usually up around 1500 hours). Because of this when you replace the lamp you need to reset the lamp hours counter, or the projector doesn't even know you've changed it. Every projector does it this way, and they all do it a different way, I googled the model you gave us and found this set of instructions on how to do it, so give it a go.

Reset the lamp counter hours of operation for the projector SONY VPL-CX61
Using the remote commander while the unit is powered up, press "ENTER", "ENTER", "LEFT"
and "ENTER" in sequence. A prompt will appear on the screen asking if you wish to enter the factory mode.
Press the "UP" key on the remote and the unit is now in service mode. This sequence will add two new groups
to the customer setup menu. Press the "MENU" button to view.
Whenever the lamp is replaced, the lamp timer should be reset. With the unit in the "factory" mode, press
"RESET", "LEFT", "RIGHT" and "ENTER" on the remote commander. Verify the lamp hours have been reset to
zero in the service menu.

Hope this worked for you,

Hi, My Infocus screenplay 5700 gave a message to change lamp, but after turn it off and then on, i kept working good, after an hour suddenly turned the lamp off but the fans kept working. Now when I try...

the lamps are good for about 2000 hours. but it sounds like it's time to get a new lamp. but after you put it in, go into the menu and reset the lamp timer.

With all menu settings appearing with their normal values, my X2 projected image ''oscillates'' between showing correct colours and a heavy green overcast with no blues or whites. The green light is steady...

your colorwheel is going bad. needs replacment. find an infocus service center and purchase part # 525-0144-00. shouldn't be more than $50, but replacement is pretty involed. you need to remove the top case, front and back covers, power boards, plate, lamp house assembly, and fans just to get to where the colorwheel is plugged in to the main board. removal of the actual colorwheel is only 3 screws.

I just replaced a power supply, it has one fan instead of 2. Works great but now I get an error message saying it can't find the fan (which I'm no longer using), how do I get rid of the message?

replace the fan. it needs all the fans the projector was designed with to properly cool it down. without all the fans, the lamp will overheat and cause premature lamp and projector failure. the fan has 3 wires- ground, power and sensor. if the fan spins too slow or not at all, the projector will shut down to prevent damage.

so, replace the fan.
