Hello yildiraysage,
After looking at the IDE header on the MOBO, and taking a guess that the EIDE cable that you have, that the bottom center block is filled in, you need to find an IDE cable that has all of the pin blocks open.
Perfect picture below. Please refer to POST #10 in this Overclockers.net forum thread. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/61/IDE_cable_40_pin_%26_80_pin.jpg/454px-IDE_cable_40_pin_%26_80_pin.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.overclock.net/hard-drives-storage/333508-need-help-installing-ide-hard-drive.html&usg=__M09Ba9Vyy3_zSInd5JRG1PRfLX8=&h=599&w=454&sz=49&hl=en&start=14&um=1&tbnid=xl6vrWS_xO3IoM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=102&prev=/images%3Fq%3D40-pin%2Bfemale%2Bto%2Bfemale%2BIDE%2Bcable%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1
You have the one on the LEFT(80-PIN) but NEED the one on the RIGHT(40-PIN). Correct?

If you are trying to connect your DVD Writer using an IDE cable, then:
1. First, make sure that you are connecting the IDE cale in the correct direction. Make sure that the Red (or colored) wire in the cable aligns with pin 1 in the connector.
2. If the cable & connector are aligned correctly, then try to find a replacement IDE cable without a missed pin or with the missed pin in the correct position. This can cause no harm to neither the DVD Writer nor the motherboard.

That motherboard doesnt support ATA it supports upto 6 SATA devices which is actually better and faster. You will need to take your DVD/RW back and ask to swap for a SATA and also make sure you buy a SATA cable and good thing is these are actually cheaper and faster. Its actually a very nice motherboard dont be disappointed. Cheers from Scott and plz vote

I have bought parts for a new PC. When starting it up for the first time I just got a 'No Signal' message on the monitor screen. The motherboard is the Rampage III Extreme. The red led is lit on the...

When you turn the computer on, it should "beep" once, if all the hardware (RAM, CPU, video) is working correctly. If it beeps more than once, something is wrong. If there are no beeps, check that the PC Speaker is correctly attached to its pins on the motherboard.

Try the RAM and the video in another motherboard, to confirm that they are working correctly.

Try a different power-supply -- it should output several different voltage-levels, but if it's not 100%, then the motherboard won't function at all.

Dvd writer doesnot showing in bios

Theres' a couple things you need to double check. If you also have a CD-ROM drive connected to the same data cable as the DVD-ROM writer check the jumper on the back side of both. One should be pinned with a two pin jumper and set as a master and the second should be set as the slave. The back side of each ROM drive is marked M for Master, S for Slave & C for cable select. (Cable Select not suggested).
Double check the data cable. Remove and re-seat at the motherboard and at the ROM drives Parallel ATA data cable. Also check the power cable. Remove and re-seat. If everything is connected and the two pin jumper correctly and snug you should see the DVD listed in the BIOS.
Performed a restart and check your BIOS.

Asus rampage 2 extreme no beeps on first boot, does not enter post, i.e nothing shows up on screen, with the 8 pin power connector in the motherboard the pc will boot then shutdown for 2 seconds and reboot...

1 - Test the memory in another pc; if it's at fault change it completely.
2 - That 8 pin connector is there to provide extra power to the processor sources - either one or more of them are fried = replace motherboard or the processor itself is gone =  test it in another pc and replace it if necessary.

PC Does not boot up with LG SATA DVD Writer

Did you try to move the small jumper next to the connector on the back of the DVD writer.
Then try to choose different places to connect your DVD on the motherboard.
Check if you have the right driver or reinstall it.

Hope its help, don't forget to rate.
Cheers
