Check filament voltage to picture tube. Connector on CRT board may be loose.

Check the CRT ground wiring. I saw this on a computer monitor after I forgot to reconnect the wire from the ground line around the picture tube. It would start normally and fade out over a period of five-fifteen seconds.

Caution: pull the plug and wait several minutes, then check for voltage between the bare wires around the outside of the picture tube and chassis ground before you put you touch anything. If you get voltage, this is definitely the problem, and I've just saved you from a nasty shock (could be almost as high as 2nd anode voltage). If you don't get voltage, inspect at will.

Your back light controller board or the ballasts for them may be bad if they weren't incorporated into the power supply board.

This is not a LAMP issue, it is much more serious than that, you need to have it checked by a certified technician, it sounds like the image prossessor

No images but records sound

To start ensure that you removed the cover from the lens.
Also remove battery and put it back in place to reset the camcorder.

If you get only sound on playback, connect the camera to a computer or TV, or play the tape on a different camera. If you get picture in there, then the camcorder is recording, but the video playback does not work because of a faulty LCD display.
If when you play back the movie on a different camera, or using the compute you still get no picture then the camcorder is faulty.
Faults that can cause black screen can be:
Lens problem. Faulty CCD sensor. Faulty controller board.
All this faults are not easy to diagnose and fix, if there is a fault , then it is better to take the camera to a repair shop.

No picture only sound

The bias supply to the CRT may be failing, or the CRT itself is failing. It is difficult to detemine without going in to the set and taking readings, and diagnosing the exact things that are going on.
