Sounds like a security system issue. Using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors will usually reset the system. You may have to do this procedure a couple of times and see if it works

2004 Saturn ion. Car won’t start. Battery seems to be good, cuz all dash lights come on. Car won’t crank.

Does the starter make a noise when you crank it? If not, first make sure you have 12+ volts in the battery and good battery connections. If the battery has less that 9 volts, then replace the battery. Try using a jumper box or a set of jumper cables from another vehicle to start the car. If you can see the starter, have someone strike it with a hammer while turning the key to the crank position. If it starts, replace the starter.

Could mean that you're washing the cylinders could be ******* the starter. A dry start. If it's not that then replace the starter. A symptom could be poor fuel mileage or you need to change your oil. Use a Lucas additive for dry start if it's not the starter.

How to change starter in 1998 saturn sw-2

It's easy, jack up the car put jack stands under it, remove positive battery cable, on the back of the motor closes to the fire wall is the starter ( get under the car, round cylinder), remove the two bolts and drop down to disconnect positive wire and remove exciter wire, re-install in reverse

98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

98 saturn sl1 won't start

if you have good battery voltage at this time, and when you banged on the starter and then the car cranked over, it would appear you have a defective starter. i would imagine if you replaced it in july of last year that it could still be under some sort of warranty, so i would look into that. either way, it sounds as if you need a new starter.
