Yes you can cook with it down. It will get hotter being down so you may have to adjust the heat lower.

Meat weighs 2llb 20oz how long should i cook it for we like it medium rare ?

The best thing you can do is to buy a BBQ digital thermometer that you place in the meat during cooking. They have a heavy duty wire with a temperature probe on the end. Sear the meat directly over the coals (or hot side of a gas grill), then move the meat to a cool side and then insert the temperature probe and close the grill lid. Cook until it reaches desired temp, for me 125 degrees is perfect. The total cooking time is hard to judge as it depends on your grill cooking temp, but the digital thermometer takes all of the guesswork out of the equation as to when the meat is done.

Tip on Grilling

When grilling meats, it is usually best to turn the meat only once. When grilling meat to a medium or greater doneness, use the lid to assist in cooking. This will decrease the cooking time by applying heat to all sides of the meat at once.

How do I remove melted plastic from a Weber Q grill

Do you mean plastic got on the cooking grate? If so you will most likely need to scrape it off. The more you cook plastic the worst it becomes. If it is on the outside a little scraping is needed. Hopefully you wont mar the lid or part to much. No cleaner will remove plastic. You have a nice grill, hopefully you will keep it.

HELLO. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME GRILLING ON MY OWN. MY QUESTION IS BY THIS GRILL NOT HAVING A LID WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COOK W/O HAVING TOO MUCH SMOKE. B/C I SATY IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX IM CONCERNED ABOUT...

The best way to cook on a BQ and have min smoke is to put tin foil on the grill with only a couple holes punched it for fat to drain, and don't let flames flair up, use water botttle near by to squirt coals if flames appear and spray some to put out flame. What causes smoke is the fat and juices from the meats hitting flames, this method cuts 90 percent of that.

I have a cooks essentials programable pressure cooker and need to replace the pressure cap? valve? regulator?. not the entire lid, just the pressure cap.....

You may not have to; look close, if there is an "O" ring, that may be all that is necessary. But if you need parts, you can contact the company. I did a search using "cook's essentials" and a warranty link, .PDF appeared and when you read the link they indicate an address, but sorry no website listed.

Coal starts dying out the moment I put the Grill

even with all the vents open the air is restricted with the top on. This is what makes the kettle such a remarkable cooking machine. If you wish to grill then leave the lid off and cook directly over the coals, if you are grilling a thicker cut of meat such as a 1 1/2" thick porterhouse you might want to put the lid on for a while to more or less bake or broil the meat without blackening the surface of the meat and to achieve the desired internal doneness of the cut. you can also stack your briquettes/lump to one side and put the lid on so the exhaust is opposite to create a non direct cooking environment for cuts such as butts, ribs, briskets, whole chickens etc

Paint on top inside of lid is peeling off.

Remove the paint. The heat will dry the metal and grease from cooking will keep it from rusting, if it's iron. If it's aluminum it's not a problem.
