Question about Raymarine St60 Plus Package, Includes Speed, Depth And Wind Instruments

1 Answer

My Raymarine ST6001+ says no signal. All other instuments are getting good GPS signal. I have have changed compass but nothing changed. I have a Course Computer 400 as the main autopilot controller. Can the ST6001+ unit be bad or is it the COurse Computer 400? All my electronics are connected by SeaTalk.

When you say no "signal" do you mean no GPS fix or are you getting a seatalk error? Also, is this an old Autohelm course computer (black). ?

If the ST 6001 shows "no data" and alarms, the course computer is most likely bad. Control head failure is very uncommon, hower you should look at the brain box (T400) and move the control head to the other seatalk terminal (there are two) you may have just one failed SeaTalk port and can use it as is, otherwise, Raymarine will still fix (this week) 847-746-0100

Hi I have a raymarine c120,dose the hiden electronic compass have a reset button, when following a track on screen im am traveling sideways or a stern,,,do I need a new one or reset,??

Do you have the display configured for "heading up"? If it's "north up" then the map orientation will be fixed and your heading will change. Look at the softkeys under "presentation". The C120 doesn't have a hidden electronic compass; it uses the heading from the GPS (which will wander around when you are stopped). If you have a Raymarine autopilot it will provide compass heading to the C120.

I think your best bet here would be to post your query on the Raymarine forum.

Just interested on ''how'' the Autohelm ST1000 Plus works! is there somewhere on the net that I can check, I just bought a boat with one one it and I know how to make it work, but I want to...

Hi!
The ST1000+ does not have an internal GPS. What it does have is an electronic compass underneath the keypad. When you order the Tillerpilot to steer to a bearing, the unit uses the electronic compass to steer using a series of corrections.

Just in case you've misplaced your Owners Manual, you can use this link to download it to your computer: http://www.raymarine.com/productdocumentfinder.aspx

Click on your language preference, then Autopilots from the drop-down menu, tillerpilots and finally ST 1000+. The pdf file for your unit is 81130_6.pdf

Hope this helps and happy boating!

We have a Raymarine ST8001 autopilot system that we are unable to get throught the calibration mode to set deviation. Our boat dealer mounted the fluxgate compass within 18" of the emgine which was too...

compass needles are affected by iron objects and can also be affected by field magnetism generated by current flowing through a wire .Bilge pumps , winch motors are heavy current drawers and they could affect the compass operation
while the voltage is low the field of the magnetism around the wire can influence the compass heading so check for any electronic apparatus wiring close to the unit ( radio , radar etc
it may be necessary to run the powers wires in an insulated sheath ( like coaxial cable or other insulated power cables) around sensitive equipment
talk with marine equipment installers to get better ideas as to prevent interference with the compass

Boat on screen does not point the direction the boat is going e-80 series also chart will not go course up or heading up like the radar does unit is set in relative motion mode

The direction of the boat symbol is depending on the compass course from the autopilot. You will see that your GPS course (COG) and magnetig heading on the autopilot differs. Solution is to calibrate autopilot compass. Will advice you to not use course up, stick to north up or heading up.

Autopilot shows "no rudref"

The rudder sensor works like a light dimmer, so you get 5V and ground on the outside two connections and a varying voltage between about 1 and 4 volts depending on rudder position

Keeping course

Please check if the pilot is acting the right direction ,press +10 key and check if boat teers STB,
press -10 and check if boat turns PORT ,if it acts reverse, see handbook to reverse action.
Verify if compass course in standby is indicating correct course .
Do the calibration procedure as stated in in the handbook (360 degree turn)
If it still not indicate the correct course ,or is frozen, compass or printed circuit is faulty.
Check the resistance between the wires of the compass unit .(see google internet)
Good luck

I calibrated my autopilot compass and that resolved the problem. My auto pilot compass was about 100 deg out.

Once i did this the problem was resolved.

Compass calibration

Hello. First day I use this device, and have found this tips for compass calibration (as I understand, compass calibration depend on satellite signals - so before compass calibration it's better to get good signals from satellites):
- keep device at horizontal plane (as from message "hold level");
- turn it slow, but not too very slow.
It's better don't turn device, but get device at hands, and turn around himself with it with constant slow speed, and keep horizontal level of device - by this way I have a more accurate calibration, than turn just in hands or on the table.
I hope this will help.

The S1G display occasionally shows no data. The autopilot works fine for hours then fluxgate seems to hang up.

Try to borrow a computer unit to detect if the fault is in the computer unit or the display unit
