Question about Jenn-Air JFC2089HE French Door Refrigerator
I moved into my home about 2 1/2 yrs ago and in the house was left an Admiral Refrigerator. At the beginning of the week I noticed the frig. section smelling a little so I got a new box of baking soda on Wednesday and waited to see if my problem went away. Well today my husband noticed nothing in the frig was cold anymore. The freezer is working just fine. The compressor is still running. There is access on the back to the fan the blows from the freezer to the frig. Should I try defrosting it. Checking the evaporation coils, and if so where could they be and what would they look like or maybe could it be a faulty thermostat. Help! Thanks in advance! Pam
First listen to here if the fan is working , if the fan is working remove items in the freezer and check back wall of freezer compartment for frost if there is frost, the problem may be in the defrost system witch can be checked easily.with a small amount of tools and 1 multimeter remove contents from freezer if there ia an icemaker unplug icemalker from freezer wall(rear)and then there is 2 to3 1/4 in screws that hold thr icemaker in place. Remove Then remove rear panel . remove the two screws at top panel should lift out ok it's fit tight in there. once removed, check all the connections .look for lose connections if there is to much frost the coil may have to be defrosted with a blow dryer .the defrost thermostat ( located at right side top)unplug wires and carfuly remoe from coil inspect for damage. Sometimes it will swell from moisture that freezes and damages it. or it just open check across the two leads with the ohms scale if the meter does'nt move the thermostat is bad replace if it dose move then check the heating element if no movement, replace if their is then the problem may lie in the defrost timer or the defrost board (depending on model) located in the top of the refrigerator sectio behind the light panel. when ordering parts always have you model and serial numbers ready for the parts person. have a great day!

Behind the freezer panel, a defrost thermostat is insert in the evaorator coil. It could been disconnected (terminals) by the growing ice or simply defective. Also there is a defrost heater in there; it can have a similar problem.First, stop your refrigerator and let it defrost.
