The connection are not getting detected.its getting loose in between.check out if its connected tightly, and there is no dust in between the connections.remove all the external removable connections and reconnect every thing again and retry.

Reformatting HCS725032VLA380

Is it your primary hard drive ?
Reformat hard drive to NTFS Windows XP allows you to easily format the hard drives with its inbuilt utility. Formatting the hard drive would forever delete all the files stored on it. There are two ways in which you can format the hard disk partition - from My Computer and from DOS. You cannot have a NTFS partition with allocation unit s above 4096.

Click on "Start," and then click on "My Computer." Right-click on the disk partition to format and then click on "Format." Click on the "File System" drop down box and select "NTFS." Click on the "Allocation unit " drop down box and select an allocation . It is recommended that you select the "Default allocation " option. Click on the "Start" button. b> Format the Partition from DOS b> Click on "Start," and then click on "Run." Type "cmd" in the 'Run' dialog box and then press "Enter." Type "format drive_letter: /FS:NTFS" at the command prompt and then press "Enter." Replace the 'drive_letter' here with the letter of the drive that you want to format (for example, format e: /FS:NTFS). For help on advanced formatting options, type "format/?'more" at the command prompt and then press "Enter." Keep pressing "Enter" as you read on. Hope it helps

How do you set up an external hard drive?

Turn your computer on and plug the external hard drive into the computer.

Open "Computer Management" by clicking "Start," "Control Panel," "System and Security," "Administrative Tools" and "Computer Management."

Click "Disk Management" in the left pane under "Storage."

Locate your external drive from the list of hard drives connected or installed on your computer.

Right-click the drive and select "Format."

Select a file format from the drop-down menu. Choose "NTFS" if you will be using the external hard drive with a computer that uses Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP.

If you will be using the hard drive with an older version of Windows, select "FAT32."

This is a much less common format.

Click "OK" twice and your external drive is formatted. Once the drive is formatted, it is properly set up to be used with your computer.

hope this helps

Phillips software upgrade is UPG file format?? How do you work around?

Update starts as soon as you connect usb drive (automatic start). For this version number has to be different than the firmware on the tv. If it is a downgrade it will ask if you are sure that you want to do it.
Philips refer that you should format the drive as FAT (DOS) or FAT (not FAT32)however other persons refer that FAT32 can be used. You can format USB drive by right clicl on it in "My computer" and selecting "forma"t then "format as". Please note that by doing this (format) everything on that drive would be permanently erased.

How do i free 8mb in Sandisk Sansa M250 i formated but the same result happens plz help me!!!!

SanDisk tech support recommends formatting the m200 series in both MSC and MTP modes to completely clear out all work areas,"fragments" and residual data. The m200 has a very basic Operating System that doesn't have a defrag option. According to tech support, the m200 needs formmating occasionally to keep it working smoothly. I learned that formatting will also clear up intermittent hang-ups. I format mine each time I reload it.

Format in MSC Mode

With the m200 not connected to the PC, power it on, press the menu key. Select "Settings", then USB, then MSC.

Connect the m200 to the PC via the USB cable

Right click on the "Start" button.

Left click on "Explore"

Find the m200. It will show as a hard drive, for example: "SANSA M250"

Right click on the m200 device and select "Format"

After formatting is complete, click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the System Tray and stop the device

Disconnect the m200 from the PC.

Format in MTP Mode

With the m200 not connected to the PC, power it on, press the menu key. Select "Settings", then USB, then Auto Detect.

Connect the m200 to the PC via the USB cable.

Right click on the "Start" button.

Left click on "Explore"

Find the m200. This time it will not show as a hard drive but as a music device, for example: "SanDisk Sansa m250"Note there is no drive letter in MTP mode.

Right click on the m200 device and select "Format"

After formatting is complete, disconnect the m200 from the PC. There is no icon to stop the device.

Your m200 device is now formatted and ready to reload.

By the way, MSC mode is mostly for use with other than Windows XP computers. If you are using WinXP and Windows Media Player 10, you might consider using MTP mode and WMP to manage the m200's.

Format Hard Drive Error

If the unit detects any form of Hard Drive Error it asks you to format the drive. Connect the unit to your PC and run ScanDisk or DOS Chkdsk on the drive. Will help to rectify any issues with the FAT. Windows XP & 2000 Running Check Disk Utility (ChkDsk) ? HARD DRIVE mode only If you still have problems with the file system on your AV 500 you can try to fix it using the DOS utility, check disk (chkdsk). Do the following; ? Make sure external AC adapter is powering the AV 500. ? Quit all running applications. ? Properly connect the AV 500 to your computer ? Wait patiently (up to 5 minutes) for Windows XP to show the local drive as mounted. ? Open a DOS window. Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. ? At the prompt, type chkdsk e: /f . Use e: or f: or whatever drive letter is representing your AV 500. The /f argument tells the program to automatically fix errors. ? Be patient, this may take a while. ? When finished, exit the DOS Window and properly disconnect the AV 500 from your computer. Now try using the device. DO NOT try to defrag the drive. Let us know how you get on.
