SOURCE: I have a lx 255 john deere wont start

You have a defective ignation coil. When the engine gets hot, the winding in the coil opens and the engine stops. After it cools down, it will again make contact and start again. If you don't know where the coil is, follow the wire from the spark plug. The spark plug wire is attached to the coil from the factory. It's easy to replace with a 1/4 inch socket set. Set the magnet to coil gap with a standard business card.

SOURCE: where is the hood release for the 3320

Below the bottom of the hood you will find two metal tabs, push down on either one to release the hood. You will have to release the grill guard pin and roll it forward before the hood will open all the way[if it has a loader on the tractor].Under the hood and to the left of the battery is the prop rod to hold it up.Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: My John Deere 345 dies for no apparent reason

You have dirt in the fuel tank and it sucks the dirt up on the filter that is attached to the pump. After the machine stalls, the dirt falls off and it will restart and run for a few min.

I have a john deere z225 and it starts and my hours meter is not lit up but when I disengage parking break it dies,, if I move the arms it dies and if I engage PTO it dies, can anyone help?

t sounds like there may be an issue with the safety switches on your John Deere Z225 lawn mower. These safety switches are designed to prevent the engine from running if certain conditions are not met, such as if the parking brake is not engaged, the arms are not in the proper position, or the PTO is engaged.
Here are some things you can check:
  1. Check the parking brake switch to ensure that it is properly engaged. If the switch is faulty, it may not be registering that the parking brake is engaged and will cause the engine to die when you disengage the parking brake.
  2. Check the arm switches to make sure they are properly positioned. If the switches are faulty or out of position, they can cause the engine to die when you move the arms.
  3. Check the PTO switch to ensure that it is properly engaged. If the switch is faulty, it may not be registering that the PTO is engaged and will cause the engine to die when you engage the PTO.
  4. Check the wiring and connections for all the safety switches. Make sure they are not damaged or loose, as this can also cause the engine to die.
If you have checked all the safety switches and wiring and everything appears to be in working order, there may be a deeper electrical issue with the mower that will require further diagnosis

Got 1958 420 john deere tractor it was doing fine when I parked it 3 months later when I went to use it the clutch won,t release

Sometimes a clutch will freeze up due to lack of use. The easiest way to clear it is to put it in gear with the engine stopped, push the clutch in, and then crank the engine over. This should break it free. If it doesn't, then I suspect you have a more serious problem that may require the clutch to be dismantled.

F525. Updated mower switch by John Deere is not engaging mower

The John Deere F525, a front cutting machine, has 3 fuses.
20 Amp
15 Amp
10 Amp

Check the 15 amp fuse. I believe this supports the PTO clutch. If you replace the fuse and it blows again, check the electric clutch. You will likely find burnt or melted wires. The bearings do go out on these clutches causing them to run hot and eventually burn up.

PTO Clutch will not engage: There is a very fine one page discussion on evaluating electric clutches at this site:

http://www.messicks.com/Articles/FixingElectricClutch.aspx

My JD tech manual, which covers the entire LA 100 series, agrees with the electrical specifications. It states that the Electric PTO Clutch should show the following:

Resistance 3.7 ohms
Current Draw 3.25 amps
It does not give the air gap.

It does include a note to check the PTO Clutch Key for damage or if missing. So there is a drive key between the PTO Clutch and the shaft. Additionally, it recommends checking the tightness of the cap screw. That's the screw or bolt that holds the clutch on the shaft.
Cap Screw torque 55 lb-ft (75 N.m).

If the fuse blows, I recommend you check the resistance of the clutch. If the clutch is shorting to ground it will show zero resistance when you ohms the connector wire to a ground position. In which case, you will have to replace the clutch.

Fixing Electric Clutches

Other possibilities.
On the F525 there is a cut-off switch in the hydraulic system. It is a low pressure cut off. If you were running the mower and deck and then it suddenly stopped, it may be low pressure in the hydraulics. It will not automatically reset as you are using the same volume for the drive pumps. Once the oil gets low enough it cuts out the deck drive 1st, then the drive pumps.
