Question about Hitachi HDT725050VLAT80 500 GB EIDE Hard Drive

1 Answer

HARD DRIVE NOT DETECTED

I'm just trying to confirm if my hard drive crashed. I have a 500gb 7200rpm Hitachi HDD in an IOMEGA inclosure. Recently it slipped off of my desk onto carpeted floor. Since then I've tried to turn it on, but it keeps making a funny noise that sounds like a system Boot Error Alarm or like barring that is out of place

I would just try and come out straight to you, that your harddrive has very much likely to have crashed. Hard Drives are generally Very Fragile because of the Tiny Read/Write head that is inside.
The moment it drops on the floor it might have got broken. and that is why you are hearing the funny noise...although it will still keep spinning because the voltage is still being supplied onto it, but you might not be able to read or write anything onto it.
Sorry.
Hope this helps.
Goodluck.

This is a SATA drive, in the SATA configuration each drive is on its own, alone on the cable, no master / slave configuration.

REQUIRE WINDOWS 7 DRIVER FOR IOMEGA SILVER SERIES 250GB EXTERNAL HARD DISC DRIVE. THANK YOU

The external hard-drive is "plug-and-play", and Windows XP/Vista/7 all support "plug-and-play".
Thus, it should automatically be detected by Windows.

So, what's your "real" problem? Symptoms? Error-messages? What happens? What does not happen?

HDD Problem

The info is not clear as to if it is a desktop or laptop . However what u could try is reseating the hdd and also get into BIOS by tapping F2 and u would find a option to restore defaults, after restoring check if the hdd is getting detected . Also make sure that external peripheral like Ext hdd and other usb devices are disconnected. Update once u have tried this.

Yes it is possible to data recover from this hard disk to using "active partetion recover v2.0 or above" software. This software should be registered and also bootable disk. It will be possible to data recover, if it will be detect in dos mode.

Procedure:
Insert the bootable disk into CD-Rom and choose boot from the cd rom and now check your disk is detected or not, if detected follow the instruction and your all data could be recover with your complete partions.
