I would suggest that you download the utility "My Printer" for your Pixma 2000-is it the iP2000? if so, here is the product support page for your printer:http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip2000#DriversAndSoftware
Once on this page, select your operating system from the drop down menu and you will see the file:
"My Printer Ver. 2.8.0" (save it to your desktop in a folder)
Once you download it, and after you open it, you will notice that the utility has a diagnose and repair function. (The printer must be connected to your pc via USB cable- this utility will not work on a wireless networked pc.
I would also download the on-screen manual for your printer here:http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip2000#BrochuresAndManuals
There are two on-screen manuals: One for Windows and one for Mac Os X
Also, here is some information from the support page for you printer and the error received:
Issue: Black ink does not print Solution: The Print Head may need replacing - iP2000
