You may be in a bad reception area, try using it elsewhere. If it plays up try resetting to factory default that may clear issu. If the gain on the handset is not very good, i.e. it does not have good reception, you could try one of those signal boosters, see a good repair shop for options

good luck

Display keeps saying 'searching'

I don't have this model but I have had two Siemens phone systems. Typically, when the handset says "Searching" it is trying to connect to the base station (the part actually connected to the phone line). This can happen if the handset is too far from the base station to connect to it wirelessly. It can also happen if the handset has become unregistered from the base station (or was never registered to begin with). If the distance issue is not the problem, look in your documentation for how to register the handset and give that a try.

Keep saying insert SIM card

You are trying to use a SIM from another Network or Handset but your phone is LOCKED to your old network and/or to a specific SIM card and number: this is why it is asking you for the unlock code to remove the restriction. It you are no longer under contract or obligations (such as minimum total recharge amounts for apre-paid handsets), then you could try to request the unlock code from the original service provider of your handset.
As for asking to insert SIM card, make sure that the SIM is correctly and securely inserted in your handset SIM holder. Also check that the SIM is still functional by inserting it in another handset: SIM card can be permanently and physically disabled if you attempt to enter too many consecutive invalid codes (usually around 10).
Hope it helps and good luck!

Doesnt Find Sim Card

Just chk if the handset is unlocked, then try putting the same SIM into a different hand set and check if you are getting the same error if you get the same then the SIM is faulty or else there may be some issue with the handset so please get in touch with a service provider.

Handset won't work

I went through this exercise with a Siemens Gigaset 8800. The solution is to DE-register the handset first. Then register it with your base. This function can likely be accessed in the handset menu. The phone you purchased is apparently still registered to the previous user's base.

Philips CD240 2nd phone wont connect - keeps saying searching

Hi, I solved this issue this morning. What you cannot confuse here is that handset and base. To do the registration successfully, the both must be in "Registering" mode. First, to get the base in the registration mode, you have to press <page> (a paging function for handset in case you cannot find where they are - usually button that says <page>or speaker with sound symbol on the base) more than 5 seconds, then the base is in the "Register Mode"(though you will hear no beep). You can then go through the procedure you describe on the handset and the handset should beep with assigned number no more than 10 seconds after it flashed "Waiting". The above, however, works only if the Base is still functioning. In my case, sadly, the base was more likely dead (if I press any button on the base, i.e. answer phone etc., there is no response). Hence I went and bought a new cheap GAP compatible BINATONE 1800 Single at Comet (14.99). I then set up the base, put it in the registration mode as per the BINATONE instruction. Then on the Phillips CD240 handset and gone through the above registration procedure... and Voila! It worked. Now I have a brand new base that came with 1 handset of its own, and 3 additional CD245 handsets which are all registered with this base. So far, the sound quality is good and they retained all the telephone numbers registered with the handset. The BINATONE base came with 12 months manufacturer's guarantee so I am sorted with the base problem for at least a year, which is nice. I hope this is helpful. Best, Ken

Phone says searching

The battery may be weak. Or it is too far from the base. Try exchanging the two. take the handset near the base and see if it will link.

Handset can't find base.

I just got a 3rd handset for the same phone system and were having the same error message,,, the at&t help line does not know what it is,.,. We returned it once and got another one because of the same problems, and were still having it.. AT & T help line said to return it again and try another one .. then he actually said to replace the whole phone system .. thats easier said than done! we paid 199 plus tax on the system and then another 81.00 for the third handset!
