It suddenly made some noises and stopped running. New brushes did not help at all. It has never been used very much and the old brushes look as good as the new ones.

SOURCE: dremel 400 xpr stopped working.

It could be the fuse between the brush and variable speed control switch. I have the same problem and found the fuse blown. I am hoping that I can replace the fuse without having to buy the complete speed control unit which is about $17.00 from Dremel. If yours is still under warranty you could send it back. If I can find a fuse for mine I will let you know where to get them. joatmontag

Why is my hedge trimmer doing this?

You need to put new brushes in. The old brushes are likely worn down too short to stay in place

While using it, started making a loud noise. Turned off. Came back wouldn't work. What's wrong?

Also when i read this its looks like the motor armature could be damaged, to test first plug out for shure the powercord. If when a collector on the armature is defect you must turn the motor a little to know if it is true and if thats so, you can test it try to lift the front cap turn a little the motor on the shaft where the belt runs on connect the hose again or what you will use operated switch ON and operate the cableplug of powercord to look when it works again then you know that the noise is the armature, the collector thats broken is a little higher in the commutator circuit and therefore it stops in the most time right on one of the 2 carbon brushes, which may be the reason that he suddenly stops working and also make noise. Other examples can i not anOther reason are the carbon brushes in which the automatic stop is addressed, but that is not associated with noise. if a belt is broken the motor runs fine only if a dust bag or hose are distconnected then that 2 security switches only are the cause thats why it not worked anymore but the chance that its fortuity is 1-1000.

Stopped working

This is a problem with your carbon brushes, remove old brushes, and check they have not become jammed in there brass sleaves, they are spring loaded.
If they are not jammed but less than 20mm new brushes are required, available from most good vacuum stores.
Before purchasing spin the motor, and feel that the copper commutator, where the brushes contact with, is not buckled (not even slightly)
NB Buy genuine Numatic they go back in better.

Sebo upright barged hoover- good suction using hose, brush wont turn, sounds fine when running, nasty wineing noise when stopping?? help!! i love my hoover, have checked for bolckages....

The real clue seems to be the brush is not turning, a bad belt is possible or a blockage at that head, if you cannot get the brush moving the rest does not matter.

Elna SU

Check the brushes in the motor. My old Elna super did the same thing. We replaced the brushes and it has been working like a charm ever since. It's 40 years old and still going strong.

Whirlpool gas dryer won't start

you most likely have a bad motor. Motors run around 100 dollars since the machine is 20 years old it would be a good idea to replace it with a new dryer. if i were you i would stick with a whirlpool product.

Vacuum Roller making a loud noise

Your roller brush is starting to fail. If you unscrew the ends, you will find a lot of hair wound around the stem. You probably have a warped plastic end the holds the bearing. This is my problem now.... I am looking for a new roller brush as I write this. I found one for $30. Good Luck.
