U need to create a new partition and then install the software. Windows 7 will set up a new hard drive and I am sure that Win 8 will do the same. Just throw in the disks, make sure the cmos is set to boot up from the cd drive first and follow the prompts to install the software.

SOURCE: I hit F8, here is the new error message

If this is all you are seeing, then this is not an error. What is happening here is that your computer is loading Safe Mode. This is a way to load Windows operating system without any extra software or programs, using the most basic drivers and software to load. There are a lot of benefits to accessing this mode, especially if you installed a program that stops you from getting into Normal Mode, or you have a virus that does the same. It makes it easy to troubleshoot. Here is a link to a website with a little more info:

If you load your computer normally by not pressing any keys, then you should be fine.

SOURCE: emachines pc keeps saying hard drive is failing

What kind of resources are you pulling on the pc everyday? For example are you doing heavy writing to the drive everyday such as video editing, ripping etc and how much air flow is your pc getting. If the case gets too hot or warm for long periods of time it can cause the hard drive to fail quickly. Lastly check your power supply male sure its pputting out the proper voltage to the computer specifially the connection to the hard drive. If its not stable the nit will cause your hard drive to fail.

SOURCE: ntdlr is compressed but i have no cd

Yes, provided the recovery partition on your hddisk is still intact.
What you'll just do is, restart your system, and while doing so, keep tapping the F11 key, this brings out, or boots your recovery partition.
Then just follow the on-screen instructions after that. (PLEASE!!! backup your necessary files first, because that process is going to Format your harddisk and change everything back to the way you bought it...NEW! )
Goodluck!

SOURCE: Windows doesn't recognize recovery partition after os reinstall

The issue you are having involves using multiple systems,...If your emachine came with vistan and you installed xp, you voided your warranty status...However remove your dual boot and stick to vista if you wanna keep your restore partition working properly.....On a side note theres usually conflict with running OEM OS's on dual boot...typically it doesnt work and if it does it doesnt work like you want it to! so here is what you can do..Call Emachine up and fib to them a bit (just alittle) tell them that you cought a nasty bug and it messed with your restore partition and now you cant restore your pc....request the factory programing discs (if you ask nicely they'll hook you up 99.99% of the time) you get the discs so you can reprogram the pc to factory spec if you ever wanted to. Now use a retail version of vista and a retail version of xp. and create your dual boot, feel free to remove your restore partition if you want (cause you have the factory programing discs if you wanna go back to stock stuff YAY) I hope this helps!

How do I do a factory reset on my Gateway DX43803G-UW308, I have no disks...

Restore for gateway desktops
The way to restore Gateways is to hold down the ALT Key and repeatedly hitting f10 then it should bring you to a boot sequence screen then choose the HDD and then hold down ALT and repeatedly hit f10 again.
That should prompt the restore feature for gateway.
with a "Restore from factory default" option. This loads the system partition (C:) from the recovery partition (hidden). It does wipe every thing out on the C: drive to be like it was when new.
If that doesn't work the only way to do it is to boot into windows and run the eRecovery program

Gateway dx4380g-uw308 keeps restarting?

Windows 8 has a neat utility that is called "Refresh Your PC". This process does not change any of your files (documents, pics, vids, music, etc.). If you upgraded your PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and your PC has a Windows 8 recovery partition, refreshing your PC will restore Windows 8. You'll need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 after the refresh has finished.

To refresh your PC

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
  2. Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.
  3. Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
