Check the fuel lines and connections again turn key into on position and should hear pump hum for a couple of seconds and stop if continues then fuel line isnt getting up to pressure (fuel line leak or fuel pump going bad } new doesnt mean cant be defective --if it does than may have to check fuel rail and throttle body(may need to be cleaned )also may need tune up plugs air filter etc.

Filter ,,injectors

  • hhellums Jul 08, 2015

No problem with injectors been cleaned. Filter comes with the pump. Once it starts you cut it off and it'll start right back up. If it sits for a little while then same problem hard to start.

SOURCE: Savana 2000 van geting hard to start.

I just solved this very same issue with mine... You can chase every rainbow with this one. It turned out to be a bad connection at the starter motor... sounds silly but it worked. Clean up the connections (or replace the starter like I did) Fires right up. I thought it was a sensonsor or something because it would turn over no problem but because of the connection, it just wasn't getting the right juice to fire... try it first. :)

SOURCE: FUEL PRESSURE DROPS WHEN PUMP STOPS.HARD TO START

The fuel pressure check valve in the electric fuel pump has failed, you will have to replace the fuel pump, it is in the gas tank, also replace the filter at the same time or the warranty on the new pump will be voided.

SOURCE: 2004 dodge neon hard time starting

Well it could be the pump itself going bad or a short in the wiring, possible clogged fuel filter. There is a valve what looks like a tier valve cap on the fuel rail if you can get you hands on a pressure gauge and hook it up, you should see the pressure increase and decrease, if it does not start looking elsewhere.

SOURCE: My 1998 ford mustang v6 3.8l .. is hard to start

So what you saying is it's hard to start cold right? Something in computer system not allowing excess fuel to injectors when cold. Probably sensor Get auto electrician to sort it out otherwise you end up replacing things that there is nothing wrong with They got the right gear

Car cranks hard start

Out of time, timing belt jumped the cogs, or fuel system faulty.

Check for a clogged fuel filter, or if your fuel pump don't run at all, replace the "fuel pump relay". Sometimes your fuel pump will run, but be too weak to hold pressure, which will let your car idle somewhat, but be too weak to run the engine at speed or under load.

Takes a long time for fuel pump to prime before car will crank. sometimes 15+ minutes

Something is definitely wrong with this picture. It should only take 2 or 3 seconds for the pump to make correct pressure. Just turning the key to on turns the pump on to pressurize the system, then pump will shut off, maintaining pressure, until the computer gets an engine cranking signal, at which time pump should come back on, and stay running when engine is running.
The only way to check fuel pressure is with a fuel pressure gauge hooked onto the fuel rail. If you check and pressure is correct and doesn't drop right away, the problem is elsewhere, not in the fuel delivery. You said takes a long time before car will crank-is there a problem with the engine cranking over with key in start? That would be an ignition or starting circuit problem, not having anything to do with the fuel pressure.

2004 gmc sonoma why does it take 2-3 times cranking before it starts and only does it sometimes?

install pressure gauge and watch when key is turned off to see if pressure drops to zero if so bad drain back valve in fuel pump replace it or deal with it or could be cheap aftermarket pump and has hard time building unnecessary pressure to open poppet valves between before fuel injectors

I have a 1994 wrangler.must crank starter multipul times for fuel to reach fuel rail on 2.4 or 2.5 4 cyl.Once finally starts will run great all day and start.Next day starts hard again.I replaced fuel

replace the fuel pump, the check valve that holds pressure on the fuel is in the fuel pump. The fuel in the lines is draining back into the tank

Most of the time this means low fuel pressure, check the fuel filter to see if it is stopped up,if so,replace it,if not, then have the fuel pressure checked to rule out fuel pump.

Hard starting. cranks several times before starting. runs fine.

Sounds like low fuel pressure or a stopped up fuel filter. If the vehical has two tanks does it act the same on both tanks? there are fuel pumps in both tanks and one one on the frame. if the one on the frame is slow or not working the tank pumps can still run the car sometimes but it has troble getting started

I HAVE A 2003 CHVY SILVERADO WITH HE 5.3 V8. THE

If there is little or no vacuum going to the engine at time of start up that will cause the engine to be hard starting, what it does is since theres not much vacuum if dumps crazy amounts of fuel into the cylinders to aid in starting, also would cause it to run funky for a few seconds after its started

Hard starting, excessive crank time

try changing the fuel filter and turn the key on and off several times before starting engine. once running check the vaccum line on the fuel pressure regulator.the regulator can leak fuel from that connection.
