Keep getting disk errors, even with new disks. Freezes regulary. Fails to finalize disk. Records onto disk ok.

Dude this camera must be messed up badmaybe you could see if u still have warranty on it and get it repaired

That error message appears when the northbridge can't connect with the hard disk thru the southbridge - this happens because either the hard disk has completely died, the cable that connects it to the motherboard has failed (or got yanked out) or the southbridge has died.
So some testing will have to be done: open the bottom of the laptop, take out the disk and reatach the cable; if that fails then get a second disk and see if it gets detected, if this also fails then connect a simple dvd writer in place of the hard disk: if it fails even now then the southbridge has failed, the motherboard will have to be replaced.

Close Designer 9.
Open the folder containing the 'DSF' file.
Try to copy the file into a different folder, or onto a USB memory-stick.
Do you still get the same error-message?
If so, then the problem is that your disk-drive has a problem;
your problem is _not_ a problem with the Designer 9 software.

Your disk-drive could be "dying". Backup all your important files.
Consider replacing the disk-drive, before it COMPLETELY fails.

If by "restore" you mean that you are reinstalling Windows onto the disk-drive, to restore Windows to the "as-shipped-from-the-factory" condition, then a failure of that operation can be caused by either of three conditions:

* I/O errors reading files from the CD/DVD disks (due to dust/fingerprints on the bottom of the disks),

* I/O errors writing files to the disk-drive,

* an intermittent problem with the computer's motherboard or RAM, causing "random" failures when using the computer.

So, on another computer, take the CD/DVD disks, and try to copy the entire contents (namely up to 4.7 GB) onto the 'C:' drive, watching for any "I/O errors" during the file-copy operation.
If the file-copy completes successfully, then the copy of the files can be deleted.

If no errors occur, then it's time to suspect that the disk-drive itself is failing.
Buy a new disk-drive, and disconnect the old disk-drive, and connect the new disk-drive,
and restart the "restore" operation. If the "restore" fails on the new disk-drive,
then it's time to suspect that the motherboard has a problem.

sounds like hard disk related. turn it off and disconnect the power cord, remove and reconnect both the power and data cables to the hard disk, disconnect any external USB storage and remove any floppy disk, if any. If you get the same result, try to connect the har disk using different power & data cables (IDE/SATA), and test it on another SATA channel if available. If same error, you may need to reformat the hard disk and reinstall WIndows, or you may have to get a new Hard Disk if it fails even when tried on another computer.

Error loading operating system


1. The reason it says "error loading operating system" is because kill disk wiped the operating system from off your computer.
2. Now that you have the installation disk, you need to tell the computer to boot from it. For Dells, usually press F12 when the Dell logo appears, and it should bring up a boot menu. Select the optical drive and it should boot. If you do not see a boot menu, go into your computer's BIOS and tell it to look at the optical drive first when booting, then it will boot from the disk.

Hi Nickstart, start checking if the problem is related with the kind of Disk and test on different brands, disk types.
Even if a recorder is supposed to work fine on both +R, -R etc. , often you find out, that due to error correction methor, a device worksd well on one or the other type.

Your DVD supports the following DVDs -R, -RW, -RAM, all -R disks are supported both on 3'' and 5''.
On +R it just writes regular DVD +R, DVD +RW and mini DVD +R are not listed in DVD specs, therefore are not supported on writing.
When your unit records DVD +R it changes the format to DVD-V, The usint does not support DVD+RV.

I assume it works better with -R

I often get troubles with many DVD low price brands, try testing some good ones like Verbatim, TDK, Sony , Philips etc.

See also the manual here, at page 6 and 7 it also says: "Play may be impossible on some DVD-RW (DVD Video Recording format), +RW, CD-R or CD-RW discs due to the condition of the
recording."

Hope this had been helpful, test both a good brand DVD-R and a Good brand DVD+R.
If it still has problems when finalizing the CD, then it can be the usual lens problem, Or the DVD you are writing is too big in size and your player has problem on the final phase of DVD writing. If Data nearly takes all the 4.7 Gb allowed, there won't be enough space to finalize the DVD.

We need to narrow down where the problem lies. Even without finalizing the disc, you should be able to play back the recording. Can you do this? If you can play back the recording, the problem exists in the finalization stage and we'll need to concentrate there. Pplease update this and we'll proceed to the next step.

I own a Hitachi DZ-GX5100SW, i get a disk error, saying i have to format the disk when i try to record onto it, it then records, but the same error pops up next time i use it, im using DVD-RW disks. please...


This looks as if it needs a clear or new disk each recording
will not record on a disk with existing data on it.
The manual should explain this,
