Ice Maker does not open rubber flap in door to let ice out........

Any help would be appreciated. The icemaker works fine and always has but just recently when you push in on the plastic dispenser to get regular cubes or crushed ice the ice drops into the area inside the door and then stops and the rubber piece won't open up to let the ice drop into the glass. We have to be careful or ice will spill over the top of the hopper in the door when we open up the door to manually push down on the black rubber piece and the ice drops fine into the glass and any others hits the floor. I know something must push the black rubber piece open to let the ice drop into the glass but I can't figure out what it is....... wierd but its a problem!

Re: Ice Maker does not open rubber flap in door to let...

I have a Frigidaire Gallerie side by side with Ice and water through the door. I am getting no water to the ice maker or water dispenser. I have checked and water is getting to the bottom of the fridge through the copper line but is not going through the lines to the Ice maker or door.

SOURCE: icemaker only dispenses crushed ice, not cubes

yea! I have been without cubes for 2 years. I slid out the tray, found the lever in the back where the rod went in, pulled it down, reinserted the ice tray, and IT WORKED! At first I thought I broke the lever, because I had to hold it down with a knife while I was inserting the tray, but it just must have been stuck. I am soooo happy!

SOURCE: Model 363-9534753 Kenmore icemaker not dispensing ice cubes

I had the same issue and here's what I did to fix it. I pulled out my ice bin. Pushed the metal rod that's underneath it up. Pushed it back into place so that the metal rod would go above the lever in the hole in the back. Sorry- don't know any of the technical terms or names of parts, but once I readjusted the position of the rod I got ice cubes. Hope it works for you!

SOURCE: GE icemaker

First I need you to take the Ice Container out wash and dry it. Next I want you to open the freezer door and press the door switch that will turn off the light. With the light off have someone press the dispense ice button and see if the auger motor turns freely in the rear of the freezer with the ice pan and auger out of the way and then let me know your findings, Please rate my solution and I'm here if you have questions.Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Dispenses crushed ice and will not dispense ice cubes

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Ice maker will not make ice. Red light blinks

I have a kitchenaid with the same problem. Red light blinks twice when open is normal. Hold the flap down and the red light will be on.= normal= optics are working. If the ice rakes rotate, module is probably fine. Check the simplest solutions first, defrost the freezer in case the icemaker water nozzel might be frozen. That solved my problem. I then increased my freezer temp by a couple of degrees and so far, no problems.
Good luck.

Whirlpool side by side Ice maker has quite making ice

Open the freezer door and on the right side , make dure the slide is in the on position . If the red light flashes twice , then pauses , flashes twice , pauses , consistently , then close the flap door on the left side of the freezer . The light should go off . If these tests work , then the cut-off optics are good , and the icemaker needs replaced , due to the cubes not dumping . Also check the coils under the front of the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc.

I have a KitchenAid side by side and my icemaker is not working

Check the black 2" fill hose going from the top of the freezer to the ice maker fill cup , to see if it's frozen up . Also check the optics system for proper operation . Open the freezer door and the laser should flash 2 times , pause , flash2 times , pause etc. Close the flap on the left side and the laser should go off . If the laser does not come on when the door is opened , then the ice maker is in the harvest ( dump ) mode . If it stays this way , then ice maker is bad .

Ice maker stopped dropping ice or even making ice.

Try using a hair dryer to thaw out the rubber tubing leading to the ice tray. On mine, I opened up the front door to the icemaker and found the rubber tubing leading in. I squeazed it, it felt frozen, so I applied heat. Water began dripping out, the area thawed, and I had ice again within a short period of time.

Ice maker quit working

good sign its flashing , woth door open depress the left side flap oppiste the blinkin light. does the light then go solid red??? i fso its an indication that the electricl eye is operating ok .
theres a screw 1/4 in. along the right side underneath the icemaker itself, youll need to removeit and the cover its holding down. you can then slide the ice maker assy foward and out of machine,There will be another litle tab along loeft side uder ice maker youll need to depress to ppulll unit out. pry off the white cover from front of the ice maker assy itself and have a look at the main gear 2 in. round, is it broken off, or on its way top breaking( sometimes the tabs that hold it on to the ice maker module itself break preventing operation, if this is the case youll need to repalce the ice maker assy.

GE Icemaker flap door won't open causes ice jam in chute

There is an electric solenoid that opens the door. If you look up inside the dispenser you can see the solenoid. Either the solenoid is bad or the dispenser module that puts power to it is out. You will need to remove dispenser front and check for voltage to solenoid. If you have power from module, replace solenoid, if no power, replace both parts. It is common for solenoid to short out and damage the module so that both must be replaced. If solenoid is shorted and you replace module, new part will fry.
