How to clear the print buffer for a print job already sent to the printer?

Turning off the printer does not stop printing..and disconnecting from the modem hub does not stop after reconnecting.

You have a network printer and honestly, I've never used one so I'm just guessing is same prcedure used with a standard printer should work. Procedure is for Windows.
I mean, you should open Printers & Faxes item in your Control Panel.
Click on your printer and when it opens press DOCUMENT menu item.
Select CANCEL
This selection is supposed to cancel anything you are printing.
The "problem" is that printer has a memory buffer, so that's why it should continue printing it's content. I don't know it the indicated procedure should also cancel printer's buffer.
Buffer might be rather big. Just imagne the storing capacity of a "small" 256 Mb memory.

My second idea is to READ YOUR USER'S MANUAL. Just guessing, your printer may have, or better said, should have a reset fuction to cancel all printing operations, or something like this

You don't have the manual? Download it from here

How to Stop Printing while it is Printing ?

Start by pulling the paper tray out. This will cause the printer to finish the page it was on when it was interrupted rather than paper jam somewhere in the machine.

Once you have interrupted the print job this way then you can cancel the print job from the PC and then once that has been done turn the Printer off for a few minutes to clear the memory buffer.

Turn it back on and it should be cleared.

When I click on cancel and then on "yes" the printing job continues. Sometimes I want to stop in the middle of the job because I have gotten all that I want printed.

The printer has a buffer which stores data from the computer as it's printing, and even after you cancel a job the printer will keep going until it uses up that data. If you've printed all you need, you can shut off the printer. This will cause Windows to tell you about the communication error, and you can cancel the job then. When you turn the printer back on, the buffer is clear and it won't print anything else until the next job.

Will not stop printing epson c66. four year old was using computer and i have no idea what she did

Clear the buffer by holding down the powerbutton

1) turn off the printer
2) Hold down the power button for 15 seconds

This should stop the printing

Also check your printer que on your pc. Go to printers in controll panel and cancel all print jobs in there too

That should stop the printing

If not you have a defective printer to be sent to repairs.

Unable to delete doc after being sent to printer

First, I would try canceling the document either at the printer (hit cancel if it has already been sent) or at the computer.

You can do this by going to start -> settings -> printers and faxes
double click on the printer to open it
right click on the offending file and hit delete

It sounds like both of these have been done already. So...next option.

Second option - Restart the print spooler
Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Click on the "Print Spooler"
Select Restart

Third option - delete the document from the spooler
Stop the Print Spooler by following the instructions above and clicking "stop"
Delete all files in the c:\windows\system32\spool\printers directory
Restart the print spooler.

CAUTION!!! - This will clear out both the offending job and any other jobs that have been sent to the printer after the offending job. If you have a number of other jobs, you may wish to clear out only the offending job from the printers directory.

Hope this helps - flub

Sent too many labels to printer - need to reset

As the previous expert has stated, with the printer paused, press the cancel key to cancel the job. One thing to note, is depending on how your software sends the print jobs, you may say print 1000 labels, but the software sends it one at a time, so basically you have 1000 print jobs in the printer. If you pause the printer, press and hold the cancel key. Hold it for about 2 mins. This should clear the buffer.

PRINTER PROBLEM where is my hp tool box? I HAVE INSTALLED NEW INK CARTRIDGES AND NOW MY PRINTER PRINTS OUT A LOAD OF PRINT I CANT UNDERSTAND. THANKYOU

Try double-clicking on the printer in the Printers and Faxes folder and clear any pending jobs. Turn off and disconnect the power cable from the printer for a few minutes to clear its buffer. Keep the paper removed from the tray during this process and only re-insert it after the printer has stopped attempting to print. When the spooler and buffer are cleared normal printing should resume.
