Solution : Print a Connection Page (Network Connectivity Report / Configuration Page)
NOTE: Print the Connection Page to locate the TCP/IP Address for the WorkCentre.
Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. 'Machine Setup' will be displayed on the Display Screen.
Press the [Up or [Down] arrow button until 'Reports' is selected, and then press the [Enter] button.
Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until 'Connect Page' is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button to print the report.
Press the [Stop] button to return to the Standby mode.
The Auditron feature is used to prevent the machine from being used by unauthorized users and also to track the total number of copies or prints produced with each account. When the total number reaches the upper limit set up by machine administrator, users cannot use the copy feature on the machine. Before resetting the machine you will want to print a usage report. Those instructions are at the bottom of these instructions.
Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel. See the Related Items below for additional information on navigating the Control Panel.
Press the [Select] button below the Display Screen to select 'System Settings.'
Use the numeric keypad on the Control Panel to enter the Administrator Login ID, then press the [Select] button to confirm.
NOTE: The default System Administrator Login ID is set to 11111. The System Administrator mode allows you to customize many settings on the machine to suit your particular requirements. The machine enters the Machine Administrator mode only when a correct System Administrator login ID is entered.
Press the [Select] button until 'Auditron Admin' is highlighted, and then press the [Enter] button on the Control Panel to confirm selection. The Auditron Administration screen will be displayed.
Press the middle [Select] button until 'Reset Acc Limit' is highlighted, and then press the [Enter] button. The 'Reset Accounts' screen will be displayed.
Press the left [Select] button to reset all accounts.
Press the middle [Select] button to cancel the request.
Press the left or middle [Select] button to perform the action. The Auditron Administration screen will be displayed.
Press the [Exit] button to return to the default screen.
Solution : How To Print Reports and Lists (Auditron / Copy Meter Report)
The Print Report / List feature allows you to print various reports and lists for each non-print job.
Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. The Machine Status screen will be displayed on the Display Screen. See the Related Items below for additional information on navigating the Control Panel.
Press the middle [Select] button below the Display Screen to display the Report / List information.
Press the [Enter] button on the Control Panel. The Print Report / List (Non-print Jobs) screen will be displayed with the options referenced in the table below.
Copy Meter
Lists the account data such the account name, the limit set for the account and the total number of copies for each account.
Press the [Select] button to scroll to highlight the required report under the appropriate column, then press [Enter].
Press the [Start] button on the Control Panel. The Report / List will print.
Follow the steps listed below to print the PQ troubleshooting pages. These pages consist of one procedure page and five color test pages.
Print a copy of this Web page and walk over to the printer you are troubleshooting.
Load either 8.5 x 11-inch paper (letter) or A4 in Tray 2 of your printer.
Press the Menu button to enter the MENU on the control panel of the printer.
Press the Down arrow button to highlight DIAGNOSTICS.
Press the Select button to select DIAGNOSTICS.
Press the Down arrow button to highlight PQ TROUBLESHOOTING.
Press the Select button to select PQ TROUBLESHOOTING.
Pick up the PQ troubleshooting pages.
Return to your computer to continue the troubleshooting procedure.
The message PRINTING... PQ TROUBLESHOOTING displays on the control panel until the printer finishes printing the PQ troubleshooting pages. The printer returns to the Ready state after printing the PQ troubleshooting pages.
Start the BRAdmin Professional utility, by clicking Start => All Programs or Programs => Brother Administrator Utilities => Brother BRAdmin Professional Utilities => BRAdmin Professional.
From the main BRAdmin screen double click the appropriate printer.
Enter the print server password (The default password is "access").
Click the Control tab
Click the Restore Factory Defaults button
Click the OK button when you have read the warning message.
The print server will then reset back to its default values.
Start the BRAdmin Professional utility, by clicking Start => All Programs or Programs => Brother Administrator Utilities => Brother BRAdmin Professional 3 => BRAdmin Professional 3.
From the main BRAdmin screen double click the appropriate machine.
Enter the print server password (The default password is "access").
Click Network Configuration tab, Control Panel and select Set Default.
Click on Submit button.
The print server will then reset back to its default values.
Via a web browser
Because web based management requires the TCP/IP protocol for
communication, any reset option you see when managing the machine with a
web browser, will not reset the IP address details that are set. If you
wish to totally reset all the print server parameters we recommend you
reset the print server by using the BRAdmin application. To reset the print server (excluding TCP/IP parameters) follow these steps:
Connect to the printer using a web browser.
Click Network Configuration.
Enter the print server password (the print server password is
detailed in the user guide for the print server) if it's applicable.
Click the Set Default link or Reset Print Server.
Via the control panel (only for network ready models)
Make sure the machine is not operating, then disconnect all the cables from the machine (except power cable).
Press the Menu or Menu/Set key on the control panel.
Press up or down navigation key to select LAN or Network and press Set, Menu/Set or OK.
Press up or down navigation key to select Factory Reset or Network Reset and press Set, Menu/Set or OK.
Select Reset.
Select Yes.
The machine will re-start, re-connect cables once this is complete. please rate it
Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. The Machine Status button is the bottom of the three buttons between the numeric keypad and the Touch Screen. The Machine Status screen will be displayed.
Select the [Billing Meter / Print Report] tab on the Touch Screen.
Select [Print Report / List]. The Print Report / List screen will be displayed.
Select [Fax Mode Settings].
Select [Address Book].
Press the [Start] button on the Control Panel. The report will print.
Most likely the tray setting has changed, Here is what to check.
Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. 'Machine Setup' will be displayed on the Display Screen.
Press the [Enter] button.
Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until the required tray is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button.
Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until the required paper size is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button.
Press the [Stop] button to return to the Standby mode
I am sure you will find one of the tray settings to be incorrect.
If not, click on the printers on your computer, Right click the 4118 and look in the printer properties. One of those settings may be off.
More likely is that the machine settings have changed for whatever reason.
Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. 'Machine Setup' will be displayed on the Display Screen
Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until 'Reports' is selected, and then press the [Enter] button.
Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until 'Billing / Counters' is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button. The Billing / Counters List will print. Total Impressions is the first item on the list.
Press the [Stop] button to return to the Standby mode.
If you have the machine for three years then I would say the the print head is coming to the end of its life, there are two solutions,
1. Follow the instructions below and activate the jet substitution mode.
2. Get someone to remove the print head and clear the blocked jet manually.
Note: The print heads on these machines are very expensive so if you have to replace it, just buy a new machine as it will be cheaper then replacing this part!
NOTE: The Configuration Page can be printed to help
solve printing problems and obtain the best results from the printer.
Access this page from the printer's Control Panel.
Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to
select [Printer Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK]
button.
Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Configuration Page], and then press the [OK] button to print.
Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Exit], and then press the [OK] button to return to the Main Menu.
10.00.03 - The printer cannot read or write to the yellow print cartridge memory tag.
Solution:
Turn the printer off and then back on again.
If error returns, remove all print cartridges and turn off the printer.
Cold reset the printer:
Turn on the printer.
Watch the control panel.
When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button.
Continue holding the green check button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady.
Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady.
The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.
Press (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET.
Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.
Wait for the printer prompt to install each print cartridge.
This should return the machine to operating condition. If you still get the error, replace the yellow print cartridge.
