Stacy, get a ladder and climb up to the opener. The directions are there, but typically you press a button for x seconds, and then press a button on the remote. This handshakes the two units. continue for other remotes.

I was having a problem with the remotes. Program one remote, and the other stops working and vice-versa. I found the solution to be as follows: Using 61LM single-button remotes for Lift-master WhisperDrive (belt drive) garage door opener, I set the dipswitches (find them by removing battery replacement cover) to identical settings in both remotes. Set the first dipswitch to the neutral (0) setting. Next -- and this is the important part -- press the learn button on the main door opening unit, and, while the small LED light is lit, press the button on ONE of the remotes. DO NOT REPEAT ON THE SECOND REMOTE. Upon doing this, I found that BOTH remotes at last worked. I then went on to program a keyless entry pad, which was accomplished by again pressing the learn button on the main unit, and then entering the number sequence I had chosen for my entry code on the keypad, and pressing Enter. Both remotes continued to function and the keypad functions as well.

The only procedure I have ever followed is to press the learn button and then enter the code, and not do anything else. I think your last step of holding the button until the light goes out is clearing codes as fast as you enter them. Just stop after you enter your code and let the learn mode time out on its own. That should do it.

And don't put your head through the wall. It just causes more headaches.

SOURCE: garage door opener does not work correctly

Make sure the door springs on the door are ok.Unhook the opener from the track by pulling the red handle rope on the track, make sure the door moves up and down freely. There is a up-force adjustment on the end of the opener that the small wires run to,you will see 2 slotted adjuster screws, find the one labeled up force, turn it clockwise a little bit(1/16th of a turn). Also there is a plastic gear inside the case that gets dry, unplug the opener, remove the 8 screws that hold the case on and lube it with a lithium grease, see if it is worn badly while you have the case off.

SOURCE: need a manual for sears model 139.18856, 1/2

According to Sears your model number is bad. Double check the number and they will have the owners manual with complete installation instructions.

I have a sears craftmans garage door opener that just stopped working all of a sudden are there batteries or soemthing I coul dbe checking?

There is a battery in the remote and wireless keypad but there are none in the opener itself. Check the outlet for power. Plug in a lamp or radio. Make sure the circuit breaker in your house hasn't popped.

Cant get 2 remotes for garage door openers working at same time

You have a remote that has reverted to an earlier technology. The only way out of this is to purchase the same exact model number called for by your opener and go through the programming. You will find the new one will work with one of the old ones. Remove the battery from the one that isn't and drop it in the garbage.
