Question about LG WM2688HWM TROMM SteamWasher

1 Answer

I have exactly the same problem!

I bought the LG washer and dryer 3 years ago and for 2 1/2 years I've been going crazy! (We have 3 boys and do tons of laundry!) Even if our clothes don't have a strong mildew smell, our towels do, which we use to dry ourselves, so our "just showered" skin smells like mildew! It makes me feel sick and I have resorted to drying myself with paper towels, I swear! To add insult to injury, we lived in a rental for a year while we did our home renovation, and the washer and dryer were some crappy brand about 10 years old and we didn't have ONE problem getting our clothes clean and smelling fresh! It drives us crazy! I have also tried every product on the market that "supposedly" cleans washers, along with vinegar, amonia, baking soda, etc. Nothing works. It's not fair frankly. I could have bought 3 Kenmore washers and 3 Kenmore dryers for the price I paid for the LG!

Try using the tub clean cycle and use a good dose of bleach or vinegear. Here is how to run the tub clean cycle.

To start the TUB CLEAN cycle:
1. Remove any clothing or items from the washer and close the door.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment.
NOTE: Do not add any detergent to the detergent compartments. Excessive suds may be produced and leak
from the washer.
3. Close the dispenser drawer slowly.
4. Power On and then press the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds. (Prewash option will be selected.)
5. Press the Start/Pause button to start.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open to dry around the washer door opening, door seal and
door glass.

I have a new DeLonghi Gas heater but once I've lit it, the flame just goes out. I've just bought another heater because the 3 year old one did exactly the same thing.

I'm sure that you read the directions and you are holding the button for a full minute.

1) Try blowing it out with a hair dryer. Dust does lots of weird things to gas heaters.

2) There is a thermocouple that opens when it is hot and makes the gas keep flowing. It is a small metal tube that sits directly in the flame. When it heats up, the gas flows. If that is shot, then it won't keep the gas flowing, so it will turn off when you let go of the button. Try tapping it lightly with the tip of a screwdriver to knock it loose. There is about a 10% chance that this might fix it temporarily until you can get a new one.

Hi, I purchased the same model in November 2009. About 2 weeks ago a single horizontal line appeared. Each day another appeared until today when the video went out. Now it displays bands of vertical colored lines like a pastel colored rainbow. Did you find a solution to the problem?

I can't turn on SpinSense on my LG WM3987HW combo washer-dryer. I've tried pressing the button for 3 seconds in nearly every mode, on or off, locked, unlocked, wash, spin, rinse. I've managed to get it on...

I have an earlier version of your machine (WM3988HWA). What I've found is that you can't use the Spinsense feature if you've got the Dry cycle set to go after your wash. I have no idea why they designed it this way!
We run the wash first without setting it to dry, and have no problem turning Spinsense on. I usually hold it down for 3 second after hitting the start button, but you can also do it before you start the wash. When the wash is done, then we start a dry cycle.
This is the main flaw with our otherwise great machine. I posted about it at a long time ago but never got any advice.
