Question about Sony Walkman MZ-G755 Personal MiniDisc Player

MZ-G755: No sound recorded to minidisc after about 40 mins of recording

When I record a CD to my Sony MZ-G755 minidisc recorder the sound drops out after about 40 mins. The sound is reaching the minidisc because I can hear the musin when I plug earphones into the minidisk and the soundbars on the display are registering a signal. It's as if the write head gets to a certain point of its travel and stops. The tracks register on the disk but there is no sound past the 40 min mark. The little disk in the lcd display seems to be spinning really fast then it slows to normal then speeds up again. Thank in advance for any help on this. Regards Matt

there is nothing wrong with the way I am recording. I have used the same method successfully many times before. Sound is being recorded to the mini disc but about half way through track six the sound disappears. I have also noticed that the image of the disc in the LCD display spins really quickly and then slows down and then speeds up again.

I have already tried that without success.

Thanks Diazphi. I think you might be right - ie that there is something physically wrong with it - either dirt or a defective part. I was hoping it was some sort of setting that I had wrong. Unfortunately getting it repaired isn't worth it because just to get someone to look at it and give a quote costs over $60 Australian. Add Parts and labour and I'd probably wouldn't get much change from $200. It's a pity because it's a beautiful unit - excellent sound quality, compact and easy to use. Looks like I'm reluctantly going to have to get an Ipod!

Try to remove the old music you had been recorded and use to record it again. Please let me know if the same problem persist.

Try to download the file which you recorded, and download to your pc and play using media player. If the sound the same the problem in the media recorder, need to clean-up but you have to bring that to the Sony repair for proper cleaning. I would not recommend you to clean-up by yourself.
