My reverse doesn't work either :(

My machine works great...except my reverse doesn't work. It just stays in place, then eventually will move slightly in the reverse direction. :(

Check the spring inside of the sewing machine. You have to take it apart and look at the spring where the reverse lever is located.

My kenmore 22 stitch sewing machine I bought in 1990; it doesn’t reverse anymore. How do I fix it

Those older machines do need regular cleaning and oiling. I suspect the oil has dried and caused the switch mechanism to seize. As time goes on, more parts may seize, so it's probably important to get it addressed soon. It could eventually damage the motor if the motor is trying to move seized parts. Well worth the expense if you value your machine.

I have my moms pfaff 1222 which I love. But having issues with buttonholes. Seems first row of stitching works but when I push button to make end stitch and then reverse it doesnt reverse

Your machine looks quite similar to some of the older Berninas I've worked on in the past. Perhaps your machine has seized due to the old oil solidifying. This could have happened with the reverse mechanism and the selector levers/buttons on your machine.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Necchi 535FA is stuck in reverse, no matter what adjustments I change. I oiled and cleaned it and properly threaded it. Everything seems to work and move fine, except the reverse button was stuck.

A part of the Reverse Button mechanism is probably frozen.

This may work:
Direct heated air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism and let the metal parts get pretty hot. (Don't burn your fingers!) Then try the reverse button to see if it has loosened. Repeat and hopefully it will begin working. If you figure out where the reverse button mechanism is located, you can try lubricating the metal joints--ONLY 1-2 drops of GOOD quality sewing machine oil (do NOT use 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or OLD sewing machine oil). Then try the hairdryer again. Do NOT oil plastic parts or belts unless directed to in the owner's manual instructions.

Vintage Sewing Machines

To keep your machine sewing well, be sure to clean and oil on a regular basis--about every 8-12 hours of continuous sewing, every time you empty a bobbin, or if it's not in frequent use, every six months. Oil drying out is a frequent cause of machine moving parts freezing.

What my sew d Lite Works on reverse

Your reverse mechanism may be frozen. You need to place a couple drops of sewing machine oil into the mechanism. Remove the bobbin case, thread, and needle then permit the machine to run freely. While the machine is running, move the reverse mechanism up and down until it is free.

If you have not used the machine for a considerable time or have not used a feature, then the old oil becomes sticky and will eventually "gum up" the mechanism.

The cam (disc) turns all the time when the machine is in use, whether or not the particular stitch that the disc makes is being used. If this is not happening, one (or both) of the gears that drive it is damaged and the machine will need a repair.

Your machine needs a proper service to free off the parts and t investigate the disc problem.

Brother AE2500 reverse sewing lever is too stiff to move , how does this work please, bacause in the CD provided with this sewing machine , this lever (plastic) for doing reverse is being moved down t

Try turning the flywheel and operate the reverse lever at the same time. Some machines need to be at a certain point in the stitch cycle for the reverse lever to be used.

Needle is moving up and down but it doesn't move forward

if you have a manual, check and see where the feed dog lever is and make sure it's in the up position. when the feed dog is in the down position it's in the darn mode staying in one place,, but when it's in the up position the machine will sew.
here is a link for a manual, if you don't have a manual

I just got an old Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 385.17781. Everything is working fine except the reverse stitch. When the reverse button is pressed, the fabric doesn't move or sometimes movin

it sounds like the feed dogs & the reverse button need to be
checked at a repair shop,
to see why they are not responding to each other.
