HOW DO I FIX A COPIER THAT DOES NOT PHOTOCOPY BLACK BUT PRINTING FROM A COMPUTER SYSTEM IT WILL BE OK?

The copier print all colors from a computer system, but when you make photocopy that has black write up, the copy will come out blank. I have service the drum units, cleaned the card on the main board, but still have the same problem.

If it prints colour from a compute but will not print black and white from scanner/copier......does it have a seperate black cartridge that has ink in it?

How to conserve color ink when printing only text documents.
First, make sure you have an updated driver installed in your computer. Visit http://support.epson.com for updated drivers.

To select black ink only mode and conserve color ink when printing only text documents, please do the following:

1. Open the Printers window by following the appropriate steps for your operating system:

In Windows 2000: Click START > SETTINGS > PRINTERS.

In Windows XP: Click START > CONTROL PANEL > PRINTERS AND FAXES or PRINTERS AND OTHER HARDWARE. (Select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS under PRINTER TASKS if no printers appear.)

In Windows Vista: Click START > CONTROL PANEL > HARDWARE AND SOUND > PRINTERS.


2. Right-click on your printer name and select PRINTING PREFERENCES.

3. Click the ADVANCED tab.

4. Select the BLACK INK ONLY option.

5. Click OK.

Remember to repeat these instructions and remove the check from BLACK INK ONLY when printing photos or color images.

Cant print in color with e studio 281c I can copy in color
The 281c can be set to print to black only as a cost saving measure. The printer control panel is accessed through your browser (using the IP address of the printer) and the setting is made there. You should be able to override this through the printer properties in windows, but I have found that the PCL5 driver worked to switch between B/W and colour, while the PCL6 driver did not. So, for me the easy solution was to install the PCL5 driver and use that.

Why is the print blurry
If black & white copies are ok you can probably bet it is an issue with the ITB (transfer belt assy) or a color registration issue. If black & white copies are also blurry.....could be a variety of issues. If it only happens when you copy but printing is ok from the computer......scanner is at fault.

I only want to use the black ink, not all 4 colors
Color printer have sofware installed which stops all printing inless their is ink in all containers. No, their is no way around it. Someone would be rich making a kit to do so. since I see this question over and over  at least once a week.

you have to go through all the steps in the installation manual that came with the copier, ie; screen alignment, gradation. should do the trick
