I have the JVC TH-C60. When I plug it in the lights flash and I hear the subwoofer click in sync with the flash of the lights on the main unit about every two or three seconds or so, but it won't fully power up. I checked the fuse and it has continuity, so that must not be the problem. Has anyone had a problem like this? And how do I avoid getting ripped if I DO have to take it in for repair?

HIya , sounds like the Sub is Ok if its making some form of sound so only the amp needs to go in and it unfortunately doesnt sound as simple as a wire etc but that something is faulty. I suggest request a written quote for the repair. You might struggle to get that, as guys dont like to quote (and they do have valid reason for being like that) but the right guys will give you a number! Best of luck

The subwoofer speaker itself may be bad or not receiving the signal. The trouble with all powered subwoofers is they will shake themsevles loose. Ive even had them shake the wires off the speaker terminals. It has to be troubleshot but check for open connections.

Digital Optical port to 8-pin din

Optical digital cables can't be magically wired to copper inputs. NO digital signal can be magically connected to an analog interface and work.

Even if you could do what you propose, how would you control volume?

Why don't you just connect the BluRay to the JVC system and let IT handle the audio to the sub and satellites?

Run an optical cable to the JVC TH-C60's Optical In port. Make sure there are no tight bends in the optical cable as that will degrade its ability to transmit a signal.

SUBWOOFER WON'T POWER ON (Grounding out???)

Check your cable that runs between the main unit and sub for bent pins. If they look fine there may be a short in the sub itself that is causing it to go in to shutdown.

Subwoofer not powering up

I could either be the sub or the main unit. The main unit actually sends a signal to the sub to turn it on so if that circuit is bad in the main unit the sub is never going to come on. I've also seen bad cables (You'd be amazed at how stubborn people can be when din connectors don't cooperate).
