The picture stays on for 3 seconds and goes off,

The picture on my 19 inch Toshiba LCD TV stays on for 3 seconds when you turn the TV on, then goes blank. The sound stays on.

Where would I get a board for this replacement. I don't have any soldering tools.

Hi,
Symptom shows its failure of back light in TV that you see screen goes blank and sound stays.
Please check any dry solder joints on back light inverter board on your TV and re solder them, if problem still there, replace that board.

Shop Jimmy is good source for that board, call at 952-881-6492 & 877-881-6492 and ask them about back light inverter board for your Toshiba 19HLV87 TV

As you said you do nt have soldering tools so skip that option and do not try to resold any dry solder joint found on that board. Re soldering a PCB requires expertise.

The tv have 1 or 2 long boards call the LCD inverter boards.These 1 or 2 long inverter boards are dead.That why the LCD screen not getting a backlight to produced a picture.Replaced those 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards,will get a baklight back and have picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com buy those refurbishes 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacement.

This is inverter or backlighting problem. Can you try switching it on and off quickly for a couple of times and tell me if these '2 seconds' get any longer'. If picture stays longer and longer before shutting down, one lamp needs replaced-if not, please replace inverter board

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

i know your problem. its an inverter loose connection from CCFL to inverter output. back of your LCD inside the TV. try to remove and re-connect again. be sure no power and AC is unplugged. [email protected]

19 inch curtis mathis tv

This is the closed captioning, even though it may not contain writing in the block. If you can access the main menu then you can try and turn the CC to off. Otherwise you are stuck with it.

TV Picture Goes Black

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
