Sure you can. (wind and gravity makes them all hard to find)
you cant even tell front rear, left or right side, or top side?

there are only 2 ways. (besides replacing all gaskets and seals.
1: clean it totally and see it leak , true location. (works for 100 years now... all engines, ask any mech, )
2; buy the UV dye kit and find it. like most folks do.

SOURCE: Suzuki Grand Vitara Oil Filter Replacement Disaster

Four or six cylinder engine and behind or front of the oil filter? Looked under my GV 2007 2.7 V6 and can not locate a shiny metal box next to the oil filter. Only thing that was shiny was the exhaust manifold and oil sump which are quite hard to break or puncture. If it was the oil sump you will have to remove it and get it welded as a bog will not hold on heated engine parts.

starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

I THINK I HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET IN MY 00 GRAND VITARA SUV, IT OVERHEAT AND SHUTS OFF ALSO HAVE TWO OIL LEAKS. IS IT REPAIRABLE OR SHOULD I BUY A USED MOTOR

Hi,

Yes this is reparable both the head-gasket and the oil leaks.

Just price up the cost of a second hand motor and the repairs of the head-gasket and oil leaks.

Go with the cheapest.

Thanks

2001 Grand Vitara - leaking oil-needs to be resealed, what parts do I need to purchase?

There is more than one seal on a car. But, having said that, the first place I would look would be at the rear main seal area - where the crankshaft leaves the engine. This you won't be able to see directly, and you want to be very sure that it IS leaking before you start because the gearbox and transfer assembly has to come out first. Or you could remove the engine! There are at least 3 other oil seals and a number of gaskets and hoses that could also be the source of your problem. You have to describe where the oil is leaking from.

Blue smoke from exhaust on first start up

Blue smoke come from burning oil.  This means that you have an oil leak somewhere that it is getting burned up and exiting the muffler.  First thing I would do would be to check your engine oil level.  After you are sure that it is good, I would suggest taking the vehicle to a mechanic to have them see if they can find where the leak is.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
