Looks like you have a p4 478 socket with ddr memory bad luck they only make 478 boards with ddr2 memory now. And when ever the power supply is as old as the motherboard it should be replaced to. Here's the specs I found on your computer http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Gateway-830GM. You could always try your luck on ebay good luck.

You can buy RAM in ebay or amazon.. but be sure that you know the socket of the motherboard so that you can buy the exact memory who totally fit on the motherboard, means compatible.

I need to buy a motherboard for hp dv5 1270BR. I would like to know the part number, manufacturer and where to buy. Thank you!

If you are trying to replace a non-working motherboard, try E-Bay. Search by the computer model number. You also will find the board with version number on the old board.

How can I find out what type of motherboard?

Don't worry about it, most motherboard supports expansion devices and most common device that can fit into slots are PCI devices. Buy a Windows 7 ready PCI sound card and place it in one of the slots of your motherboard.

Need to know which motherboard i have

When you buy a notebook, you generally get a proprietary motherboard. You can't simply buy a new, different motherboard and upgrade notebooks like you can with desktops or tower pcs. If you have a problem that requires changing the motherboard, you have to buy the exact same one.

You will probably want to try to salvage the CPU, RAM, and video card if you do buy a replacement.

No display

Hi,

If there is no display, more likely you have a faulty motherboard. You need to get it repaired or buy new one.

I would advise you to buy a new one as it would add life for atleast next 5 years to the computer. Repair is not a good option as there are very few people who know to get this job done and they would charge half the rate of the new motherboard. If you know the repair, that's good unless go for a new one.

Any further help, let me know.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.

System is being hang at any moment even in bios screen. I have changed RAM also. But the same problems is occurring. what should i do ?

It seems that your motherboard is totaled. You are going to need to replace it. If you have a pre-built computer then the motherboards are proprietary and you will need to get one from the computer distributer. If you have a custom build PC then you can just order a new one off a website like http://www.newegg.com. If you buy a new motherboard you may also have to buy a new processor that is compatible with it. If you know what type of processor you already have then you can buy a motherboard that will support it.
