Currently using Vista Home Prem. and I am experiencing the same issue for 3 web browsers; IE, Firefox & Opera. Opera seems to crash the most but if I try to visit Cnet's site I can make all 3 crash. I have McAfee virus protection. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling browsers but to no avail.

By the way it sounds, Shivam is right, your pc may be infected by a virus and you need to run a "Full" scan in order to rid of the virus.

some of the best anti-viruses are:

Windows Live, onecare
Norton anti-virus
Mcafree Anti virus

try buying or using one of these anti virus programs to help solve your problem.

hope this helps! :)

Remove the update the caused the problem in add remove programs, then update manually, or turn off auto update. You can also install and use firefox instead of IE or try doing a repair to IE. Usually IE updates to version 8 and it has problems - version 7 works fine. Uninstalling 8 changes it back to 7. Version 8 will not download properly on a lot of sites - they changed it so U have to use Windows explorer instead to download from FTP sites, and it will not connect to some sites due to all of the security they installed. You could try using default settings on security and turn off filters to see if that works. When windows updates IE it automatically changes to high security.

On your mozilla browser try clicking tools, then options, under advance, click network. Under network you would see settings click it. And click auto detection of proxy setting. And click ok right after. This should do

Firefox Problems with Vista

I have had the same problem with Firefox and also remembering my login information in Vista. The XP operating system is fine the problem is only with Microsoft's Vista operating system. It could have something to do with Vista's security setup, either that or Microsoft is just kicking the competition around? Actually it's probably a little bit of both those reasons.

The only way I have been able to correct the problem is to download the IE Tab add-on. It allows you to set up a tab to open with the IE engine embedded. If you have a site that is giving you login problems, when it is open select the tools button. In the dropdown box select the IE Tab Options. The problem web site should be highlighted in the pop-up display box. Select the add button to the right and it will transfer the web site to the list of sites that you want to open with the IE operating engine.

Now that web site will always open under the IE operating engine when you start up Firefox. After you login to that web site if you go back to the tools button and select options again, you can save all opened tabs as your home page. Now when you start up Firefox you will still have all the advantages of Firefox and those hard to login web sites will automatically load and sign you in the same as they did before.

Someday Microsoft will probably stop teasing Firefox and let them in on what they have to do to get around this obstacle, but then again maybe not.

Also, what version of IE are you running on the two machines, assuming it is IE you are using and not Firefox or another kind of browser.

Nothing's ever simple, is it?
