Normally, your original disks will be numbered 1 and 2. The first should be bootable. That means that if you restart your pc with the cd in the drive, you will be asked whether to boot from the cd. If you do not see the option, then you need to go to your BIOS setup (pressing Del or f2) at beginning and choose the boot-up order where cd comes first than hard drives.
Once your computer starts loading from the cd, everything should be pretty straight forward. If you can afford formatting the hard drive, it should be best.

To whom it may concern. im looking to reboot my acer 6935 but i dont know what way to do it, i dont have the recovery disc. could you please help. thanking you.. brian o' connell

This procedure will work usually unless there has been an alterations to the originally installed OS on the Acer. On recent Acer computers they have a hidden volume on the disk labeled PQService.
This volume is for restoring the computer to the factory settings in same condition as purchased new. It will erase everything currently on the main hard drive.

Step 1: Backup everything that is important to you, on a disk or separate hard drive.
This includes any documents, pictures and application installers.

Step 2: Reboot the system and press ALT-F10 during the POST to start the Acer eRecovery Management and reinstall the operating system.

Step 3: Select Restore system to factory default.

Step 4: The wizard will lead you through formatting the designated drive and installing the operating system from the computer hard drive to the designated drive.

I need to reset my acer aspire one to factory settings, i have backed up everything on an external hard drive so i don't care about losing things off the netbook. It is an A0751h. It has no disk drive nor...

In order to "reset" a computer you will need to reinstall Windows XP. Most PC makers no longer give CD copy of windows with their products, and so they'll usually put a copy of it on your hard drive.

You can find this by going to

C:\Windows\i386\Winnt32.exe

Selecting this .exe will lead you through a step by step guide to wiping and ultimately reinstalling windows on the machine.

Sometimes the i386 folder is in the root, depending on the Brand.

How can I redo the hard drive on an Acer Aspire 3100?

I'm assuming you are using the Windows Operating system. Just insert your windows disk, reboot your computer - make sure you boot to CD, and go through the setup there. The setup should wipe everything from your hard drive.

After using Darik's boot and nuke (DBAN) your hard drive will be wiped clean with little chance of recovery. This also depends on how many passes you used for the disk wipe. More passes = less chance of recovery.

Restore from backup
You can restore backups previously created (as stated in the Create backup
section) from hard disk, CD or DVD.
1 Boot to Windows XP.
2 Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
3 Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
4 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery actions and
click Next.
5 Select the desired restore action and follow the onscreen instructions to
complete the restore process.

How to reset computer to factory settings on a acer aspire 6920 G need to wipe compter clean

you need to reload everything from your Recovery Disc. Do you have a recovery disc? If you don't have, just format your hard drive and re-install your OS. Install your motherboard drivers from the CD you have when you first bought it. Also, reinstall the programs you have. In this way, you have everything fresh like brand new.

After turn on goes to black screen says missing operating system

That sounds like a serious issue either with the operating system or the hard drive itself. The best place to start is to determine if your system came with a Windows installation disc. If so, you might be able to perform a repair installation that does not affect any of the programs or files already existing on the computer. If you don't have a Windows installation disc but have an Acer restore CD or a restore partition on the hard drive, there's a very good chance running that will wipe out everything on the hard drive and restore it to factory fresh condition. If that appears to be the only option, you may have to take the hard drive to a friend or repair facility that can backup your personal data to DVD before running the restore CD.

My acer 7520 opens with an error reading NVIDIA boot agent 249.0542, then reads PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable, PXE-M0F exiting NVIDIA boot agent.

This error message could be a faulty hard disk or a faulty disk controller.
Reseat the hard disk to see if the problem is fixed.
If not go into the BIOS settings and check if the BIOS can detect the hard disk.
If the hard disk is not detected then remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If the this computer cannot detect it as an external hard drive then the hard drive is faulty. Then the Acer needs a replacement hard disk and Windows installed together with the laptop's device drivers and programs etc.

No acer products on my computer

If restore does not work, then click on My Computer and see if you have two hard drives are one..actually you only have one, but they partition it to make it look like two. Sometimes they put all the recovery programs in the smaller hard drive..so all you would have to go is get into the smaller hard drive and it will reinstall everything..let me know...
