Hi my name is Eric,
I hope I can help you with your issue ,
There are a few buttons on your remotes to push for size, on the TV remote P-size to full. fill or just, on a cable/satelitte box
# key is zoom (brighthouse) aspect/format to stretch , make sure you only have 1080i as the output resolution in cable box display settings.
unzoom it and you'll see the edges, thats all

Hope this helps, if it has solved your issue please click accept
But if you have more questions please respond and I will reply asap
Thanks
Eric

Hey, I just got Samsung Hd tv 42'' and got kind of the same problem
watching the news channel yesterday, and I noticed that the top and bottom were cut off, plus the sides too !
then I changed from 1080i to 720p, it was ok
this morning, i turned that channel on again, same problem. Tried to switch it to 720 p ... same problem it seems to be the same format, both in 1080i, and 720p I mean, the format doesn't change ... the same "amount" of image from the top, bottom and the sides are cut off as in the 1080i format.

I also tried the # button on my cable remote and it was on normal so ... i am running out of ideas
    thanks !

You might want to call Samsung with the model number as I remember seeing a notice for certain models that have this issue---a jumper plug needs in those sets to be removed that is located on the power board.
