If, when you turn on the computer, the green light on the power bitton comes on and stays on, and nothing shows on the screen; then you have a display problem that Acer knows about. Contact their service and let them know. They should send you the solution. We had two of ours fixed for that problem.

Why won't my sylvania netbook which runs WINDOWS CE..but it NEVER gets to the desktop page...what wrong?

I'm not familiar with Windows CE, but I have had similar problems with Windows 7 on laptops.

Try keeping the F8 key depressed when starting it up. The F8 key should allow you to start in 'safe mode'. I would imagine that the F8 'safe mode' is also to be found in Windows CE.

Keep pressing that F8 key as it powers up and hopefully it will present you with a screen that gives you a choice of 'safe mode' or network prompt. Choose 'safe mode'.

If your computer then starts in safe mode (it's just a minimum amount of drivers loaded to start the operating system) .. restart it again and see if it starts normally. You may have to 'play' and keep restarting it and pressing F8 ..

You can also change the boot up sequence as the computer starts. This is usually done by pressing the 'delete' key -or escape or f12 key (it varies from computer to computer)..

.. to take you to the bios settings. Change the boot order..if the dvd drive/usb is the first boot up device change it to hard drive as the first boot up device .. and see what happens.

It's almost as if the computer gets stuck in an endless cycle of 'trying to boot up' which is probably due to software conflict, for whatever reason.. some driver may not be loading to allow it to boot up correctly.

Forgotten my computer access code

If you are referring to the power up access code screen that comes up when you first turn on your computer, it can be erased by removing the disc type button battery located on your motherboard. Make sure computer is un pluged from the power source. Remove the button battery for 30 seconds. Re-install it and power the computer up. It will boot up normally. If you are referring to a lock out of your Operating System, you will need to purchase a password recovery / reset program and load it into your computer during start up using the boot drive options selections located in your start up / set up menus. Its usually called: Boot Options or Boot Drive Options

Hard drive not showing in explorer

Maybe a virus has hidden it. It seems like you are booting up ok and everything seems to be normal since you are able to run explorer. The drive is there otherwise you wouldn't be able to run explorer.

Try booting up in safe mode then checking explorer or click Start/My Computer to see if the drive is there.

Turn off your computer, then hit the power button to turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see Safe Mode. Select Safe Mode and let it boot up. Things will look different in safe mode. The desktop will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

Unit failed to boot and observe the followng; - No start-up display - No CMOS boot-up display - Hard disk clicking sound and OS won't start

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power supply.
Remove the battery.
Remove the disk-drive.
Reconnect the AC power supply.
Turn the computer on.
Put any "data" disk into the CD-drive.
Does it display the CMOS boot-up display?
Can you hear the PC try to spin that "data" CD, i.e., trying to "boot" from it?
If it works "better" without the disk-drive attached, the disk-drive is the problem.

Computer starts up but nothing comes up on the screen

Depending on the type of computer you have, when rebooting keep hitting the F1 key or F2 key or the F10 and when the options come up select the main hard drive (c:\ )and hit enter.should boot up to main drive. If it a Mac, take out battery and plug in power adaptor and hold start up key until machine starts up. once booted plug battery back in.

Ok,was starting and then shuting itself off,now it starts, all of the lights are on,but no boot and black screen. for a HP DV6000

most commonly this is called a bios loop, this is due to the fact of a currupted bios command or a damaged cpu. to eliminate bios you must disconnect battery and cmos battery usually located where memory is, cmos battery is a small cable attached to a metal disk. unattach hard drive and restart computer. after restart shut down computer and reattach battery. again start computer without hard drive. if bios screen does not appear and same sceneario occurs then your CPU is fried. If bios screen does appear and you reinstall hard drive and get same boot error then your boot sector of hard drive is gone.

Due to black screen at boot and boot loop I would say ypur cpu is gone.

Windows XP Unsuccessful on Start Up

no you just need to fix your bios problem, if you dont have the manual take the battery out of the motherboard that keeps power to the bios keep it out for a few minutes put it back in then turn it on it should go to bios automatically then just go to set best defaults for ststem hit y for yes then hit enter and it should take off fine if it dont then you need to take it to a pro who can reset it for you manually or reprogram it that would be cheapest for you without trashing it.

Disk boot failure

After making 100% sure you have no diskette or CD in any drives the conclusion may well be that the disk is ruined. You ay try to boot from a diskette or CD and see if you can access the disk then. (see www.ultimatebootcd.com for instructions to make a boot CD) "The ultimate boot CD" has a few tools that might help you out. Since you can't boot you must make it on a different computer, though. You may also try to insert the disk in a diffe rent computer to see if it can be booted there. Also make sure all cables are properly connected.
