Why would my t.V. go black after three to four minutes
Why would my t.V. go black after three minutes after turning it on, but the volume still works? When I turn the T.V. back off, wait thirty seconds and turn it back on it works, but only for another three to four minutes. To sum it up my T.V.'s picture only works for three to four mintues aafter each time I turn it on.

This Sansui set has been plagued with problems and is now fast becoming a dinosaur. Repairs are not cheap and as this is a low HD non-HD tuner set its probably time to think about an upgrade anyway to a full HD set with built in HD tuner. The set was made in China and sold through Kmart but has no real support here or from the makers.
If you dont intend to do anything with your TV I would very much like the Remote control as mine is broken. Please email me at tminbox@hotmail.

It is a problem with the temp sensor circuit. The unit thinks it is getting hot, so it is trying to turn the volume down to avoid overheating. You either has a bad thermal resistor on the amp board, or you need to change the cpu board. Best to have it looked at by a pro.
Usually when it works, then doesn't. Then you shut off power and turn it on and it works again. It is a module. Yours would be the steering module. These are the hardest problems to diagnose(any of the computers on the car can do this). You just spent too much for someone telling you every thing is OK. But not really. Now comes the electrical part. Checking everything from the switch to the computer and making sure it is good.
Setting the ring tone and ringer volume You can choose one of the four different ring tones and set the ringer volume. To set the ring tone and volume: 1. Make sure that the ringer is turned ON. 2. Press the Set Options key. 3. Press the down arrow three times or press to go directly to the item. 4. Press and follow the instructions on the display. When picking the ring tone, press the volume bar to adjust the volume. 5. Press [Save] to end when you are satisfied with the ring tone and ringer volume.
If it is nine months old the set must still be under warranty, the problem you are describing is an intermittent audio problem and can be difficult to locate. I recommend getting in touch with the people you bought it from and get the satisfaction you deserve.
Our bassplayer had the same problem with his mb4410.
As it turned out, the fan was not working when the amp got hot. It did turn when cold - go figure!
Swap the fan for a good quality (Pabst, Sunon) 80mm pc fan with 2-wire connection. Three or four wire fans will not work w/out modding.
See your local pc guy and ask for an unregulated, silent 24/7 fans. He will know.
Our bassplayer sold the P.O.S. while still in warranty.
Sounds like you may not be selecting the right menu buttom. The soft keys are right below the screen. these three buttons function change depending on which screen you are viewing. I have copied the instructions from the manual below. You must select phonebook to view the phone book using the round button. You must select volume to change the volume with the round button.
The Standby Screen
When the phone is in standby, the handset display shows the following items:
Ringer off icon (when the ringer is off)/ day of the week and time / battery iconHandset ID and BannerNumber of new Caller ID calls received (If there are no new Caller ID messages, the Handset ID appears here.) SUN 12:00A Handset #1 New CID: 5REDIALMENU
Using the Four-way Function Key
Your handset has a four-way function key that allows you to move the cursor (or highlighted area) on the display and access the most commonly used features at the touch of a button. By moving this key to the left, you open the Phonebook. Move the key to the right to access Caller ID information. To use this four-way key, place your thumb over the key on the station and move to the four positions to get the feel of how it moves and operates.
Using the Handset Menu
To open the menu, press the MENU soft key. Highlight the option you want by pressing the four-way function key. This will move the cursor; the option currently highlighted appears in reversed out text. Select the highlighted option by pressing the OK soft key. To exit the menu and return to standby, press .
If you do not press a key within 30 seconds, the phone will time out and exit the menu. When setting Date and Time, the time-out period is extended to two minutes.
Note: For GLOBAL SETUP and DEREGISTRATION menu options, make sure the line is not in use and the handsets are within range of the base. 123abcdefView the phonebook Four-way Function KeyUpView the Caller IDDown123abcdefView •
Try to blow it out with compressed air.
Then, with the speakers turned off, turn the volume knob to full volume and back as quickly as you can (without damaging the switch) three or four times. This should take about one second for three movements.
Undertake this at your own risk.
Turn them on and see if it has helped.
Do not just keep doing this. if it doesn't help immediately stop. if it does help, repeat blowing out and repeat the knob turning, once.
