My grill and fan work but oven does not heat. I have replaced the element so wondered if I had been sold a faulty one, or whether there could be another reason for the problem?

Hi

Its likely that the thermal fuse is blown on your oven. This will have happened owing to the overheating and probable shorting of the old element. This means that the new element is getting no power therefore not heating. Solution is to replace the thermal fuse.

To get to this on most ovens you have to pull it out and get access by removing the back panel.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Many thanks.

There is usually a thermal fuse connected between the control board and the element that burns out. You should be able to access it from the back inside cover of the oven. If you need further help and you can't find it, please post the make and model of the oven for more specific help.

Have you tested to make sure that the element is receiving voltage when the oven is on? If not then the element is probably fine and yes, when the old one burnt out the fuse may have also burnt out.

Heating elements in fan oven not working

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Oven problem- grill works but the fan assist wont heat up

possibility is that the wire that link the oven element and that of grill is loose or burnt

SMEG SA410X-S heat not coming on for fan forced cooking. The fan and light work, and the heat works fine for grilling.

The fan element (round) is more than likely blown. Open the oven door, take the rear cover off inside the oven (covers the element) and have a look at the element with a torch. If it is buckled, warped or has a blow hole in it, then it's faulty.

Fan oven on zanussi electric cooker does not heat up

From symptons, I would say the fan oven element is faulty, more so if the fan is working. Remove inner rear panel of oven and see if element gets warm, let it run for a minute, switch off and feel if element is warm, if not, then replace.the element.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.
