How do i find out if my windows 8 is touch screen

One possible Win8 touch screen clue is the price. If the computer cost over $1000 on an all-in-one, you might have a touchscreen. Another test is to touch the screen and see if you get a response from the cursor. (Clean the screen afterwards to avoid fingerprints blurring your experience.)

I hope this helps.

(my only touchscreen device is an Android tablet. The laptop touch pad and a Logitech T650 touch pad give those functions for a lot less. Lenovo and Dell also offer Win8 touch pads.)

My touch pad is not working. There is an orange light on it.

I am really sorry to hear that your touch pad is not working. You mentioned that you see an orange light on it, where did you see it? is it on the top of your touch pad? if it's just on the top of your touch pad, all you have to do is just press the button right beside the orange light. Because the touch pad is being disable indicating the orange light, when you press the button you will see a blue light indicating that you enable the touch pad.

Thanks.

When I type on my keyboard, the pointer skips around. I can be typing on one line and all of a sudden, the typing is in another place.

hello, This happens because you are landing some part your hand (palm) in the touch-pad when you typing. which activates the touch-pad and makes sudden movements in the pointer.
This problems for lot of laptop users, unless you can get use to prevent the hand from touching the touch-pad, the only option is getting a USB keyboard where you can plug in without any drivers and type without any trouble.

My drum machine has a touch problem with the pad.

Hi there. This happens with a lot of use. If you are mechanically inclined, take it apart. Dimples in the head may cause this problem. Replace it.
Thanks

If the touch screen still works then you have the option to calibrate the touch pad via the NDS utility and the stylus.

If you cant recalibrate the touch pad then is very posible for it to be damaged and you shoud consider replacing the pad with a new one as you can find these replacements widely spreaded in the web not so expensive.
You can also find guides and videos on how to dissasemble the device and replace the touch pad by yourself taking care at all times to avoid causing a worst damage. You need a thomson screwdriver, usually sold in the same store where you find the pad and some small blade and philips screwdrivers. And a lot of patience...

Good Luck...
