Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I have and acer laptop and a benq 512 projector. When i turn on the laptop, i can see the boot sceen on the projector and the windows screen with the green bullets going across. When the windows desktop is about to come, the projector says "no signal". I tried to toggle the projector with the function and F5 key, but there is only the notebook display to select. If i unplug the projector VGA cable at the computor and plug it back in, everything starts working fine. I can then toggle between the displays with the FNC+F5. Is the boot up turning the VGA port off or what???? How do i fix this

Sorry, i am running windows vista. I'm not sure about the system configuration though.

  • tsolson Jul 11, 2009

Ok, i'll check that. I don't have the computer in front of me, as it is at our church, but i think that both of those options were already selected. I'll have to double check to make sure though

Alright this is pretty simple, you need to enable 2nd monitor from windows display properties, then you can move or drag windows (powerpoint etc) from your laptop display and out from the corner of the display to the 2nd one.

On your desktop, right click and select personalize, then select the bottom one, display settings.
Now you should see Display settings Display 1 is your laptop monitor, display 2 is the video output, right click on 2 and select attach, then you can adjust the resolution from below if you wish, when done click apply.

note which side if monitor 1 the monitor 2 is, if its on the right side then you can drag windows to the the right from your laptop monitor and it appears on the projector.

any questions let me know.
Thanks,
Ekse

Kindly provide the model of the Acer laptop please. It should be on the base label or on the inside of the LCD screen.

Thank you.

Hi,
Can you please specify the operating system and the system configuration of your laptop so that we can help you better. Normally most laptops and several PCs turn off the power to the displays while booting just after the Windows screen with green progress bars exits. This helps to save power consumption and improve battery life.

    Ok, no problem.

To change the power settings to the display on your laptop:

    1) Open Control Panel

    2) From the left hand pane select Classic View

    3) Select Power Options

4)Here you'll find three options: Balanced, Power Saver & High Performance.

    Select High Performance option.

    5) On the left hand pane in the same window, you'll find a link "Choose when to turn off the display" Click on this link.

    6) The next page will show two drop down lists. One option for "turn off the display" & other "Put the computer to sleep". Select "NEVER" option on both the tabs and click on save changes.

This should resolve your problem. Thanks for you patience.

There's a display "toggle" sequence on your computer to send the signal to your external post (VGA?). Look at the Function keys (top row) for a screen icon. Hold Fn key down and press that Function key (on Dell, usually F8). You should get an indication on your screen of which outputs are active -- look for BOTH.

How can I connect BENQ MP510 multimedia projector with Acer Aspire one D255E notebook using windows 7? Do I need installation of extra driver for that?

Hi!

No you don't need a driver, connect it using a VGA Cable, then press FN Key at the same time with Fkeys that has a monitor screen Icon on your keyboard.

Hope this helps.

I have connected my Toshiba laptop to a benq PB6210 beamer but cannot get presentation on the screen. I need help

Hi there,

1) Turn off the BenQ power, before connecting your VGA cable to the Toshiba laptop.

2) Once your laptop recognises the BenQ unit, you then need to tell your laptop to send an output signal to the BenQ - you do this by pressing your 'screen output' button (this is usually one of the function keys and you may need to hold the key for 1sec). The output function key can choose either single VGA output, or both laptop screen + VGA output.

I have asked a couple of gurus I know and they seem to think the solution is to set the laptop to aspect ratio 1024x768 to match the projector. Then change it back later. I am not in the position to test this unless it happens again with another projector somewhere else. What I wanted to know was how should they have set their projector. G.

Hi shyan_mlip,

When you say doesn't boot up, are you sure you here no noise at all? I think that all you need to do is to switch the laptop back to it's on monitor. The Benq swapped the monitor over to remote monitor, and you're going to have to switch it back. Hit and hold the <FN> (Function Key) plus hit the <F6> key. That's the function key F6. You may have to hit a couple of times depending on the computers settings, but make sure you give the screen about 5 seconds to reset it back.

I think that should do the trick, if not let me know,

Good Luck,

Mark

You might have not enabled your computers second display.

This is actually a very nice feature, because you could run your powerpoint slide on the monitor while still running your normal applications on the laptop screen.

Go into control panel, display properties and then click on the "second" monitor (you could click on "Identify" to see which is which) and then select the "expand my desktop onto this screen.

The LCD display will be just a normal background, but you can drag windows from your laptop screen onto the LCD and back.

Hope this helps

Not working on my laptop

Hi Jhem,

It definitively sounds like either a Screen resolution or a Screen Refresh rate problem. I would suggest you start at the bottom: set your Screen Resolution to something very low like 800x600 and set the Refresh rate to 60Hz - both in Windows of course - you'll probably have to do this with you regular display attached to you PC first, then connect your BenQ second. Than move your way up to the recommended spec in your BenQ User manual.

Cheers
