Question about Slik U-212DX Tripod

1 Answer

The quick release locking lever is not working. Consequently I cannot lock my camera on my Slik U212D tripod. Is this something that can be fixed?

I'm glad to  hear it can be fixed but I already took it to a camera shop here locally and their repairment don't fix tripods.  I live in the Fort Myers, FL, area.  Any suggestions as to where I can go?

Thank you.  My husband is working on the tripod now.  He was able to get the quick release post off but isn't sure what to do now.  Can I get back to you in awhile if he needs more help?

Thank you. My husband wasn't able to fix it so we will try the places you recommended to find a shop than can. At least now we know it can be fixed.

Yes, take it to a camera repair shop and they should be able to fix it for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it, probably a spring or a broken piece inside the latch.

How do I remove the quick release plate?

On the tripod there is usually a lever that locks the quick release to the tripod. The quick release is held onto the camera using a screw.

Konig tripod - can't get quick release plate off I can't work out how to get the quick release plate off my "Konig Professional Tripod For Photo and Video Cameras". I've tried unscrewing the two screws...

I had the same problem a few minutes ago. You don't need to unscrew any of the fixing but make sure the larger silver bolt is not tight. The instructions are: 1. Use your thumb to push down the silver lever to the left of the spirit level. 2. Whilst holding this lever down slide the top of the top of the quick release mechanism to the right (looking at the spirit level) and it should come off. Once you do it you'll know how much force to apply in future. If this doesn't work try loosening the large bolt a little more. You can safely remove it, but remember to replace it as it is used for locking the quick release. Note that the locking only starts after this bolt is turned 2-3 times, before this the quick release should work fine.

I have a SLIK Single Action Panhead Tripod. How do I mount the camera on the tripod?

it is a quick release plate. there is usually a button or lever to release the plate. you then screw the plate into the bottom of your camera or camcorder and mount the plate back onto the tripod. you can leave the plate on your camera when you store it to allow for faster setup.

Try www.TripodQuickRelease.com for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I’ve seen.

SLIK 512QF tripod

Carole31,
I have the same tripod, and the screw shown in the photo you posted is to lock down the rotation of the tripod's head, i.e., what a video camera uses to pan (horizontally) across a scene. The large knob is used for the same in the vertical direction (up and down motion).
