Did you loose forward and reverse right after fluid change or was it gradual? Sounds like you have air in the system. I would jack up back end and leave fluid fill cap off overnight. Maybe lay a light rag over it to keep debris out, but with the cap off and back end jacked up it should help air bubbles find there way out. Then, replace cap, leave jacked up and try bleeding by forward and reverse. Hope this helps.
Three levels of servicing are available
and detailed below:
Basic 0040 or 0001002D maintenance
procedure: This will return your printer from either
the 0040 or 0001002D error
to a working state by replacing only the relevant
maintenance items.
Advanced 0040 / 0001002D maintenance
procedure: As well as replacing the parts relating
to the maintenance error additional adjustments such
as bidirectional/unidirectional alignment, 980mm
feed adjustment, firmware updating and a general
clean will be performed.
Overhaul: All maintenance items as well as the
PF, CR motor and belt, cutter cap, pressure assembly
and cutter solenoid will be replaced. A check for
any design defects such as a defective
cutter cap and a defective
pressure lever will be performed and
any parts will be replaced if necessary. All head
and feed alignments will be performed as well
as
any
required
software
updates and sensor verifications. A thorough clean
will also be performed on the carriage area and the
print head. When the procedures are complete a survey
will be performed to better understand your requirements
and any recommendations will be brought forward.
It is recommended that if you have recently come into
ownership of a second user Epson Stylus Pro 9800 then
you should assume that the counter values or service
life levels are incorrect and choose the most thorough
procedure detailed above. The reason for this is an
increasing number of printers being "reset" without
the actual parts being replaced or inexperienced owners
trying to repair or replace parts incorrectly. In one
such case a part was removed and replaced incorrectly
causing a serious ink leak which was luckily caught
early due to the undertaking of an thorough maintenance
procedure, but unfortunately extensive damage had already
been caused to the chassis and maintenance tank area.
I copied the error code and put it in the search bar in a web browser and came up with the answer. In the future just google the codes and see what comes up. Also you can download a Field Repair Guide PDF and a Manual PDF from Epson's website too.
Please see page 14 of the following manual for detailed instructions (including tools to use) in order to accomplish this procedure. You see, you have to lock up the gear drive so you can get the head back on the threaded end of the driveshaft.
National Parts Depot Toshiba does not sell service parts directly to end-users. You can purchase service parts (modem/ethernet replacement cables, printed circuit boards, display panels, drives, plastics, etc.) for in and out of warranty systems from National Parts Depot at 800-331-4829.
