Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer

Kenmore 80 series dryer.

The dryer gets warm and the drum turns, but there is a noise coming from the front left lower corner of the unit. It is a cyclic noise that happens about once per revolution of the drum. It is not a constant noise nor a grinding, squeak or scrapping noise. It's kind of a rattle but not a metallic rattle. Almost like a vibration of something.

I'm not overloading the dryer and the noise is present always while running but more apparent with th heavier the load.

Re: Kenmore 80 series dryer.

The hub on the blower wheel is separated from the wheel. Replace the blower wheel. They are about $15 on eBay.

Kenmore 80 series dryer is making a loud screaching grinding noise what could be the problem

Kenmore (Sears) dryers are usually manufactured by Whirlpool. The rear of the drum rides on 2 lower rubber rollers that go bad with age. Those rollers may need replaced. There is also a felt seal strip attached to the rear of the drum that rides the back wall of the dryer that may need replaced. Can only tell for sure by disassembling the dryer and checking.

Can't find kenmore 80 series dryer drum belt

If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Also for a manual I will include this website:
Good luck,
I hope this helps

I have a Kenmore 80 series dryer(118.72812101).

You may have something inside the workings of the dryer which has shorted out the heater coil. this could be the source of the noise as well. you need to remove the cabinet to access this, yet be careful as the drum will fall out on you in process. You can get a new coil from an appliance part store in your area. Take the dryer apart before buying this tho, so you don't waste your money on the off chance that this isn't the trouble. you will need make model and serial number from unit so they can match up the proper coil for you. Make note of how the belt is placed and routed for proper replacement when reassembling. Also make note of 'drum rollers' condition, as this could be some of the noise also.
Best to you, hope it works out
